Description
Works with a project engineer, and assists in developing and applying new processes and equipment for a wide variety of petrochemical, chemical and energy applications. Sets up complex test equipment, oversees installation, checkout and startup of new equipment. Participates heavily in the design of equipment. Works on prototype equipment. Provides field support with minimal guidance. Designs, specifies, procures, fabricates starts-up, operates, and maintains bench and pilot scale equipment. Writes SOPs and leads pre-startup safety reviews. Conducts non-routine experiments with minimal guidance. Collects, analyzes, interprets, reduces data, performs calculations, prepares reports and make recommendations. Above all compliance with Praxair safety guidelines and standards is mandatory. Up to 25% travel may be required.
Position may be filled as a salary level T3 or T4 depending on the candidate’s qualifications.Qualifications
An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a science or technology field or equivalent relevant experience and 5+ years of experience in operating chemical process equipment are required. Candidates must have experience operating laboratory and pilot scale high pressure systems that include components such as reactors, membranes, specialty process equipment, pumps, valves, heaters, chillers, dryers, compressors, controllers, etc. Experience with gas analysis techniques such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, oxygen analyzers etc is required. Experience with industrial gases is a plus. Desirable skills include project management, LabView/PLC programming, data acquisition and analysis, simple electrical wiring and troubleshooting. Basic computer skills, including MS Office and the Internet, are required. Experience with Excel calculations and 3D drawing software packages would be a plus. A track record of personal accountability and success throughout your professional career is required. Successful candidates will be creative with initiative and drive and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
