10 says that 90% of nyspeed don’t know what the word “inquisitive” means.

good luck with the hiring, and way to help out the community by posting this

is this an actual praxair job or will they be hiring thru a “agency” ?

Actual Praxair employee. Not a contractor.
In case anyone cares to know what OTM is…

Praxair, Inc. has won $35m from the U.S. Department of Energy to accelerate the development of oxygen transport membrane (OTM) systems.

OTM systems offer a significant reduction in the cost of oxygen for synthesis gas (syngas) and oxy-fuel combustion. The investment builds upon previous Department of Energy (DOE) supported work to develop basic materials, membrane structures and process integration strategies.

This new grant will fund OTM equipment and systems development. In particular it shall finance pilot-scale combustion and syngas units to demonstrate performance and provide critical data which can subsequently be used to design commercial-scale facilities.

Praxair’s OTM technology forms the basis for a zero-emissions, advanced power cycle capable of meeting long-term DOE electricity cost targets for coal-based power plants with carbon dioxide capture. Furthermore, the firm advises that other applications might also benefit from the commercialisation of OTM. In particular, combustion applications in manufacturing and process plants that may be required to control carbon dioxide emissions in the future.

OTM syngas systems work by efficiently converting natural gas and other hydrocarbons to mixtures of hydrogen and carbon monoxide used for making chemicals and liquid fuels.

Praxair, the largest industrial gases company in both North and South America, is a recognised player in oxygen-based combustion, owning over 200 patents on relevant technologies. The firm saw sales of $9 bn during 2009.

my company just ditched prax as our gas supplier :s lol.

You need to hire good drivers too, I saw one crashed on I90 in PA a couple weeks ago.

GL with the hiring.

Still more people needed…
Fuel cell test/assembly experience very helpful.

There are a bunch of other jobs posted as well on www.praxair.com

Hmmm…I’m actually qualified for the last two…

I’ve heard they are decent to work for.

doesn’t any company hire people with no experience anymore…main reason I cant find a better job

Do you have a skill?(education,trade)

Associates in computer science, not saying it applies to this job but i was talking about in general everything I see you need experience and how do you get experience when everyone requires experience

It is tough out there right now for sure. I personally would say just keep applying even when they ask for experience if it is an entryish job.

I’m not so sure anymore…

Intern places, or start as low man on the totem pole. I interviewed like 10 times before I landed my current job. As an entry level job it has it’s perks.

Lots of entry computer jobs out there…get in do your time move up.

Likewise. I recently spoke with a former outside rep for their welding division. He left for all the right reasons, allegedly.

Fuuu. That sucks.
I retract my previous statement lol
