Problem!!!!!!!!!!!

alright here’s the deal, i converted my vhs to dvd which put the video in .vro mode. I converted it to .avi, and when i go to play the video in either windows media player or quicktime or adobe premiere there is the audio but no video how do i fix this problem.

english fool…ENGLISH

how did you convert it threw a vhs to dvd recorder thing? Or like run the audio video jacks to ur comp and record it that way?

video editing as such on a swampy workstation could have such results…

codecs are off

What should they be set at… or how do you fix it??

thanks

what ever codec you are making it in, you do not have the proper one to play it with…

how do i get the proper one i need inorder to play it with the one im creating it in?

first provide some info

what software you capturing in?
what format are you capturing in?
what format did you convert to?

this stuff isn’t easy as pie, you got to use your head too

ok here’s the rundown. i recorded a vhs tape onto dvd via a go-video vhs to dvd recorder. by default it puts video in .vro format. i then put the dvd in my comp and converted it from .vro to .avi. after i convert it when i try to play the video it just plays the audio and the video is just a black screen. i don’t know if this makes a difference but i’m editing using adobe premire.

i also tried a different route, i just hooked up a s-video cord to the vhs to dvd recorder to my comp. that didn’t work either, because when i try to capture it in adobe premiere i only gives me one option to capture with and its firewire not s-video and i don’t know how to change it.

first thought is divx but…

i’d use microshaft’s movie maker for ease…

movie maker cant touch adobe, adobe a PITA to use if u don’t what’s what but after you learn all the shortcuts it so easy, and i got it for free so i can’t complain.

haha… but you can’t get it to work!

i know the difference… i’m suggesting it to you for ease.

exactly what i was thinking… hahah oh boy

premiere is for advanced users

you are having beginners errors. and you are telling us that premiere is easy? I dunno man, read the instructions? i don’t get why you are capturing it then converting it, doesn’t make sense to me

i dunno either this is the first time i haven’t got it to work, i’ll just have to talk to adobe i guess.

i don’t get why you are capturing it then converting it, doesn’t make sense to me[/QUOTE]

no no no, i only try to capture it after i convert it. If i don’t convert it at all and try to import it (don’t need to capture it), it says can not import file b/c adobe doesn’t recognize this file type or something like that. thats why i don’t understand when i convert it to .avi it doesn’t work b/c alot if not alot of my footage is in .avi. and by no means am i an expert i’m definitely still a beginner, it just seems like it would be a simple fix since i use .avi all the time.

ok your comment makes no sense… learn how to properly capture video, and then we can talk about all the different types of avi files.

  1. is the file in question an avi?

  2. the question is that he needs to find out what codec used during the creation of the avi?

please answer
