Project WaterMellon

Ok so i don’t know how to move entire threads , so i’m just going to copy and paste what i had posted from my first thread and go from there

I Started out Receiving a 240sx from my neighbor for free, looked great at first didn’t know the common problems of the 240sx at the time. Got Further into it and realized it was Far gone :S Continued to work on it till something good came out of it. I decided to go to No Frills in Niagara Falls on a Sunday night to see what sunfires i could find with over sized body kits and dual Spoilers on them, Like The usual line up

… But to my Surprise and a Nissan 240sx pulls in … and then another and another and another …

IT Was SON to the rescue After a long night of talking to people i didn’t know and drooling over there cars i came to realize it was the Bings meet and i had just come across the best thing that could ever happen for me and my 240.

So Heres a few shots of my First Car and my current car and how its coming

Any idea whose car this was originally lol

http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=91

Fuck it was cold last night, worked till 1:30 in the morning

… Note to all who plan on Completely swapping all the wiring and interior from one car to the other, Remember where it all goes, Could have had this done a lot sooner had i fallowed the golden rule of Sharpie and Plastic bags

http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=95
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=97
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=100
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=101

Now i know everyone’s seen there own dashboard and probably the mess of wires under it before, but just taking pics to show my progress , And chances are I’ll have to take this all apart again in the near future but Shit happens, its where I’m at for the moment

Oh and if anyone ever does strip there interior down and and rebuild the dash, take some time to sand and paint the Bar behind it … it only takes a little bit of time and is just nicer to work with haha

Well the dash and interior is all back together

Now on to some serious matters
Drivers side door top hinge area rusted to hell so I’ve cut out as much as i can at the moment, Has any one here repaired this area on there car any thoughts or suggestions?
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=106
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=107

As well I’ve got this hole that had been repaired with bondo/filler/paper … i dunno what they did i’m sure it worked for a while but I’m picky So has anyone dealt with problems in this area as well? i know it doesent have to be to nice visually just looking for a functional fix
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=105

and this is where the car is at the moment
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=110

lol at the watermelon.

http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=110

looks like you have your hand full, good luck with your watermelon

shit man, sometimes it’s better to just cut your losses and keep an eye out for something with a clean frame and body. no offense, but that car probably won’t ever be the diamond we’d all want it to be. and will just give you trouble in the end. unless you weld replacement metal in, then the end will be prolonged a bit, lol.

I think it’s 2 different chassis.
I think he tossed the rotted one and bought this one:

http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=85

keep up the good work man! when its all done you be real happy!!

That area under the windshield isn’t structural. Aslong as you cutout all the forming rust, then you can leave it the way it is without much damage, although fixing it would obviously be the more viable option when you have the means. However, if the rotten metal has gotten close to, or touching the windshield, throw the car away, it’s not worth dealing with it!

Best of luck champ.

good luck

hmm, could be. but i can’t see him posting pics of the chassis he’s not using anymore… projects are fun, as long as the project doesn’t require massive amounts of body workd. all the power to you, hopefully he can do it. it’s just a lot more work than starting fresh. and it’ll never be as clean as something with good frame rails as opposed to patched ones. just my .02.

i’m also prejudiced against body work too though lol.

his red one was the swissed cheese chassis this one hes building up. frame is solid just needed welding in the engine bay area basically

Has Clean Rails, drivers side strut tower needs a bit of work… going to patch/reinforce both while I’m at it, Red Chassis is still in my garage sitting with a ka24e , car is stripped for every part i could use… paint was still in great shape in the panels i could swap hood, doors, hatch ect

This is all thats left of the red chassis, and the pig nose is up grabs if any one wants shoot me a offer, pretty decent shape Different color red then oem nissan

if anyone have any rustless fenders for sale let me know, can be a little bit of rust just my current ones i don’t think are worth repairing, and the ones that came with green chassis are bent to shit

Cars coming along,
Sorry about the whole fender situation,
Im going to get my front end sorted out, and ill hook you up.

  • Jesse

that would be appreciated thanks

little side note to be added about the pictures above, according to the previous owner my neighbor of the red 240 when he had some exhaust work done on the car for what ever reason they needed to cut out the original heat shield blah blah hence the hole right through the floor haha

lol, well hey! i’m glad to see you’re starting out with a solid car, and not a wreck. keep up the good work!

got a new set of fenders today from millers auto wreckers
http://www.son240sx.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=7&pictureid=126

They have like a purple flake to them haha

sweet do they have any new cars at millers? looking good so far Nick

of the 5000 cars they had only 2 240’s … and the 92 was the good one

So chances are theres not much there Both 240’s were auto all stock and rotted to shit

The white one was good body panels bumpers ect but will cost more than what your find on son

I’m going to call and ask about other cars tho see if they have any 300z s14 240s skylines … by some sheer retarded dumb luck …

There was this balling Neon with a carbon fiber hood tho  haha

welmer got that car from me and i got it from brandon… i think hes banned though lol. definitely solid chassis… besides the wiper gutter part, but lots of work involved. what colour you going to spray it?
