Psyco-Clone

yea i did it with VHT. The housing, manifolds, and crossover. Hopefully it lasts through the summer. I dont mind painting them again next winter, i just want them to last at least a year.

looks good

Looks awesome. I have always wanted that truck.

looks good brandon

Yea the paint on my manifolds is starting to flake off.

came across the timeslip stack. timeline

  • Oct. 06 - bought truck in Minnesota, all stock with wrong longblock
  • Sep. 07 – PRP ran best of 14.1 @ 102mph
  • Winter 07/08 – engine overhaul
  • July 08 – Steelcity ran best of 8.6 @ 85mph, 2.6 -60ft on the 2800 stall
  • Sep. 08 – torque converter rebuild & restalled by Gillece
  • Oct. 08 – Steelcity ran best of 7.9 @ 86mph, 1.7 -60ft on the 3400 stall
  • Oct. 08 – on dyno 360hp/460trq
  • Winter 08/09 – added meth injection, and some more tuning
  • Aug. 09 – Benchracers ran consistent 8.8 @ 82mph, 2.2 -60ft (converter was slipping & brakes couldn’t hold it on the line)
  • Winter 09/10 – new converter (same converter & same stall), drag radials, and traction bars & hydroboost brakes

But most important, the truck never caused me to miss a car show. So i’ll fix the problems and see where it puts me.

converter arrived today.

curious to see if that has been the issue all along for it just dieing on big end, looking forward to the results with this. What size this year and whos converter

that is eye porn for sure

both are 9/11 converters from TCS. black is 3400, the red is 3600. I’m gonna 2-step it back to 3400.

lookin good man !

awesome!

just about done with the driver’s side. Going from the stock single piston, 10" rotor. To an FBody dual piston 12" rotor, with hydroboost. Passenger side is still to go.

worked on it again this weekend. i ran the exhuast out the back so it wont resonate under the bed anymore. Hopefully quiet it down.

the truck developed a weird ignition problem, where it would advance the timing 35deg by itself, without an external input. Went through the whole ignition system, and traced it down to the distributor itself. Looked it over, and didnt see anything, so i decided to disassemble it. The snap rings that position the reluctor wheel on the distributor shaft had broken. The magnetic force had pulled the broekn snap ring to the bottom of the reluctor, so it looked like the ring was still intact. But it was actually broken. When the distributor would spin, the reluctor contacts would impact the pickup coil. Becuase the reluctor was loose on the shaft. so i replaced the snap rings, put it all back together, and it seems to be ok now. In the mean time i ordered a better flowing W2A IC, havent gotten around to installing it yet. Its 15" long, 3" in/3"out straight through design as apposed to the stock 90deg design with the 2" inlet and 4" outlet, that sat right on top of the compressor housing. i’m working on putting together all the silicon elbows so everything will fit.

WTF other wierd shit can possibly go wrong with this truck?

also, the MSD box was causing my electrical system to pulsate and the engine would randomly miss. So i bought a filtering capacitor, and re-routed the MSD power feed around the front of the engine away from any other wiring. that was after the vacuum port on the fuel pressure regulator worked itself out and cause a loss of fuel pressure while i was out cruising.

while i was fixing the distributor, i put a new W2A IC on. Hoping that it would flow better then the 2" in/ 4" out stocker. It feels like it pulls a little harder/longer on the top end. so the new IC definitely worked for the better. I’m gonna make a bag for it, cause it heat soaks really easily. and when i park it for the winter, i’ll make hardpipe to replace all the silicone couplers.

its a 3" in/3" out i got from Siliconeintakes

nice. i am curious to how well those intercoolers work. i want to try one.

nelson performance runs those A/w he seems happy with them

thats alot of stuff in the engine bay!
