Psyco-Clone

if its a blue service manual, i already got it.

if u have it already aeroking, my buddy with a TY might buy it brian

those trucks are so much fun… good luck and be safe

ok, its not a vac. leak cause i’m pullin around 20in of vacuum

i still have a miss, 99% sure its one of the wires, i’ll get a new set soon.

timing is dead on 0, maybe a half degree off.

its gotta be that damn STG chip

If you jave an ohm meter, measure each of the wires. There should be around 10,000-20,000 ohms on each wire.

ya, the wires are 7mm AC Delcos off of my buddies 427 chevelle.

i’ll check them, and get some 8mm’s

wires make a difference sometimes but not due to thickness-mostly due to manufactor
no one has ever dynoed a hp gain from them

i have several sets for the ty -black beauties from atr were my fav

saying all that
i still after a ditributor, cap rotor, wires , plugs have a idle miss which im totaly blaming on the chip

i pulled 3 plugs, they had abit of carbon, but the electrode was clean.

so it mustve fouled them from me crankin it trying to start it. then yesterday i ran it for about 20 minutes, and they must have started cleaning themselves.

i ran it for another 10 minutes tonight, and the miss is fading.

removed my aftermarket chip, and the truck is running off the ECM now, just gotta play with my fuel pressure, and i’ll be golden.

the damn STG chip was my problem.

well the bad part is not many people have a good chip program

i have the pitbull chip and a saudi no emissions chip for stock injectors

im real close to going to a f.a.s.t. system one of these days

there are 2 marks on the balancer, i marked the wrong one. :kekegay:

but NOW, the timing is good, the ECM is good, i just found my fuel pressure was at 50psi, i dropped it to 42psi. Truck starts on the first click, is firing smoothly, no knock, injectors are pretty loud, but good.

only problem is i must have a bad sensor somewhere, 99% sure its a bad O2. Cause the truck will idle finefor 10 seconds when i first start it up, but then it idles rough (i believe after the ECM starts taking info from the sensors).

I’ve replaced everything else, so this must be it.

when the truck is first started, it takes more than 10 seconds to have the ECM reading the O2. The O2 is ignored until the water temp gets to a certain level. The engine runs in “open loop” during this time & the O2 is inactive. Once the ECM goes to “closed loop”, then it starts to read the O2. I would check your MAP, or even check the voltage to a few of the sensors. Did you make sure all the grounds were connected & the paint cleaned off where they connect? On these EFI systems, ground is very important. Check the voltage on the TPS & MAP. You have 3 wires on each. One is ground, one is +5V dc, & the other is the output from the sensor to the ECM. This should read as low as .5 volt up to 5 volts throughout the movement of the sensor, with no dead spots in between. If your ground is poor, then you will not be getting a full 5 volts to the sensor.

Also, if the temp sensor is not working properly, the ECM may think the water temp is higher than it actually is, so the ECM may go into closed loop sooner than it should. This can cause erratic idle quality.

thanks to an Error Code 42.

add these to the list

-NEW Ignition Module
-NEW cap
-NEW rotor

ohh, and a bad IC pump, so i’m gonna haveto order a new one.

ic pump gm $300=junk

stock location jabsco $110

fender mount campers chioce $65 1.5 more gallons per hr(this is the one atr used in there kit, works real nice too)

the only thing i didnt replace was the wires, and guess whats causing it to run like crap.

BTW, i disconnected 1 wire, started it up, and it ran as well as it ran on 6.

then i disconnected 2 wires, and it shook pretty bad, but idled on 4 cylinders.

lol

new set of 8mm going on. and replaced the plugs again with platinum 2s

Id put some taylor 8mm wires on there and run NGKUR5 plugs, ive read where alot of sytys have had idle issues and lots of kr with other plugs, the ur5s or ur6s seem to be the best.

i’ve got changing plugs down to about 15 minutes, so i’ll pick up some NGKs and stick them on the shelf.

1st boost launch of the summer, i had 3 camping chairs in the front of the bed, it threw them to the tailgate, which flew open and my chairs landed on the street. so i gotta remember to loaded my stuff at the back of the bed now.

videos to come.

i took tomorrow as a vacation day, so i’ll pull heater core #3, mount the grille and hood, put hangers on the exhaust (i have plastic zip straps on it now)

i’m waiting on a new Johnson IC pump i ordered, and my front cladding will be complete this saturday.

I’m looking forward to seeing this truck May 4th… so keep busy!

i missed 3 starlites in 2 years! i’ll be there with bells one.
