it’s not mine! i just make sure it works… it is big time though… just for running a DB cluster :bowrofl: 512gb of mirrored ram is huge $ … over a million for sure. it’s basically a mainframe in a windows box…
…it’s yours when it’s on “test cycles”
i’d need a dolly to carry the shit out… it’s hardware merged because IBM hardware is limited to 4 physicals on a board :kekegay: so it’s one main physical server with 3 merged MXE boxes… but yes… it would fit nicely into a rack at my house.
It took forever to get my rebates in, but by then it’s bought and paid for so that’s almost like extra money.
As far as the processors go, I haven’t looked much into the Core2 stuff and I’m using the Athlon64 because it came bunched with the deal I got, but I wanna look into upgrading to the FX-55 Processor in the near future as it looks like prices have dropped a bit.
you can’t beat a new core2 for a desktop pc. AMD isn’t even close, even with the price difference. And I never liked amd stuff anyway.
^ x2 the only thing AMD i have is a free t-shirt.
Yeah i did the head gaskets on my sc, it wasnt as bad as I thought.
But, if the compound (which most likely it is) is applied to the heatsink already then it will be a cake walk building your computer. I’ve only done 2 so far but the only hard parts are applying the compound and updating BIOS. BIOS is something, that if not done right will permanently fuck up your motherboard. Luckily mine can be done through windows but if you follow directions to the T then you should be fine.
I finally received my motherboard yesterday. It was put together in about 25 minutes and booted up first try. It loaded xp in about half the time my old 2.4ghz pc did it. It runs very good. I use picasa for my pictures and it used to take 13 minutes to import all of my pictures into it on my old 2.4ghz with 1gb of ram and it took 3 minutes with my new setup.
Now, all I need is some speakers. any recomendations on a good 2.1 system? I don’t need surround or any of that BS.
Creative speakers systems are the best for the money, IMO.
sound cards are for pussies
they sent a free copy of Tom Clancy’s ghost recon and I had to make up my own sound effects while playing it last night, it ruled.
