i been looking for a daily driver and recently found a good deal locally and was wanting my mechanic to check out the car and go over it for me. i asked the dealer if this would be ok to take it to my mechanic and have him look over it(car and mechanic are in same town) and he went on about doing that once before and the people wrecked the car and the dealers insurance didnt cover it. My questoin is if i buy the car and take it to my mechanic and he finds a bunch of stuff wrong do i got so many days to return the car by law or does it deppend on the dealer?
the car does come with a warranty so im not to worried about minor problems
Thats up to the dealer weather or not they want to let you take it to get checked out. The guys could be dicks about it and if he finds something after you signed the papers, they could tell you to go F off. only thing then is to report a complaint to the BBB and they wont do shit
u have 10 days or 48 hours!
The dealer’s insurance better cover the car when you drive it off the lot. How else are you going to do a test drive? Taking it to a reputable mechanic is just the same as an extended test drive. Actually, many dealers will let you take the vehicle home overnight to try it out. I’ve done this a couple times before with no issues (never was involved in an accident, though). It helped me diagnose many potential problems with the vehicles before I committed to buying it. I think he’s just trying to be difficult with you.
Thanks! but how do i know wich one ? thats a big difference does it depend on the dealer i assume? i plan on getting it looked asap but i dont know if my mechanic can get to it in 48 hours cause he isnt even open friday or saturday
u should be fine, just get it done asap
well i did test drive it, took it on a 20mile test, i didnt wreck it so i dunno bout the coverage maby if i wrecked it they wouldnt be covered lol! thats what i didnt understand if i can test drive it why wouldnt it be covered if i drove it to my mechanic.? it ran fine and everything but obviously id like to have a professional check it out, they dont seem to really be trying to hide anything cause they said my mechanic is more then welcome to come down there and check out everythig he wanted to. they even said if lift is availible hes more than welcome to use it too. The thing is obviously mechanics would rather work at there own shop n my mechanic really doest want to look at car at the lot hed rather look at it at his shop
