Okay i need some help

So I just bought a 1997 Audi A6 from Hertel Auto Sales last week and just got it friday because it had to get inspection done and all that stuff but I just took off the tire and look at what I see:

Looks like its time for a new tie rod end, alignment and a new tire (in that order).

Ima take it back to the dealer tommorrow, he should pay for it right?

I’ve never dealt with them before, but I bet they got the car and just didn’t know about that.

Bring it to them and show them and they will make it right.

The problem is gonna be them thinking you may have done it during the time you had it, so hopefully you didn’t put alot of miles on it since you picked it up…

+1

I only put around 60 miles on it

yikes…atleast you caught it now before the tire blew out

ouch that is some serious tire wear from that arm. But yea like 2turboZ said thank god you caught it early

take it back to the dealer. technically NYS only requires they cover the powertrain for a length of time but they are also required that it passed inspection when sold and obviously it could not have. they should take care of that because they should have caught it when it was “inspected”

yea take it back, the dealer is responsible for everything to pass ny inspection and those tie rod ends def are not possible so I beleive that they need to fix the problem for free

shady Nino … not gonna take care of it

I wouldn’t drive that thing more than needed. How deep is that groove? Looks like you can see the cords coming through.

Am I the only one that notices that is not a alignment issue?
No amount of alignment will fix that.
I see one of 3 things going on.

1: Wheels are the incorrect offset. … resulting in wheel/tire sitting too far in toward the centerline of the car… resulting in the rubbing. Need new wheels or spacers.

2: Steering arm on suspension upright is bent outward toward the rim from a accident… Someone compensated for it by adjusting tie rods… need new upright or bend it back.

3: Wrong thickness rotor/hub/ect… unlikely but just a thought

Yea, something is definitely wrong there, more than just and alignment… something’s bent… BADLY…

the problem is going to be trying to get this place to fix it right and not just throw some spacers on the wheels…

Yeah, that looks a bit more serious than an alignment. I hope it’s not, but good luck. I hope they fix it right.

im gonna bet its a wheel bearing

F the inpection. Theres a part of dealer regulation called used car certification. Its on the bottom of the MV-50. It essentially says at the time of sale the dealer certifies the vehicle is road worthy. That isnt. Used car cert goes above and beyond NYS inspection (its stricter). DMV judges hold it to about 30 days The dealer is responsible. if he wont fix it or give you a hard time call DMV’s Vehicle safety office. Local # 826-3187. and file a complaint.

i personally would return it, get money back, and keep shopping…

if they missed something like that, who knows what other just-as-serious problems may surface in the near future…

THAT CAR IS JUNK AND YOU WILL HAVE TONS OF PROBLEM WITH IT. THAT MAN TRIED TO TIP ME 50 BUCKS TO PASS A COUPLE OF HIS CARS. I REFUSED
