Has anyone used Turnitin.com for submitting papers? I had to write a paper on abortion for my english class this year and our professor was huge on plagarism so I used my high school account to submit the paper to check for any plagarism I might have. Now I just found out that my professor is using Turnitin.com to check for plagarism too.
So my question is: Am I going to get screwed? Cuz basically my entire paper is going to flagged for plagarism because it got stored when I submitted to check it.
It’s a student account, only the teacher has access to it once it’s submitted. My high school history teacher doesn’t even teach anymore, so I doubt he’s going to log on to the site and be like WTF is this?
If it flags plagiarism from another user, does it give their name and location? I’d clear it with the prof before you turn it in. If you’re being proactive about it, it shows you obviously didn’t try to sneak a paper in off the internet.
I just don’t want my professor to submit my paper to Turnitin.com and be like “WOW! This entire paper is copied!” and then fail me from the course on account of plagarism. Because the site doesn’t say where the paper came from, just that it has xx% plagarism from the original source. I’d be very upset to go through the whole year only to flunk out on account of something stupid like this.
So you wrote a paper in high school about abortion? Now you need to write a paper about the same subject in college and you want to re-use the paper? Correct?
In high school he had an account on turnitin.com. turnitin.com checks for plagiarism. He used his high school account to check a paper that he just wrote in college for plagiarism.
Just tell your prof what the situation is. I’m fairly certain it will be flagged for plagiarism because you’re not citing yourself, which wouldn’t make sense in real life but for turnitin.com it does. I had to cite old research I used from a paper I wrote last year and turned in on turnitin.com.
I’m sure he won’t care once you explain it, if he does go to his office and log on using your HS account.
I’m gonna see if my mom has an account to Turnitin, she’s a librarian at Maple West so maybe she can check to see if it’s going to come up flagged. In the mean time I think I’m gonna head over to my professors office to talk to him
 Good plan, whats the worst that could happen ? he wants sexual favors for the inconvenience you cause him ? in your case that wouldn’t be a problem in the least bit.
these sites are new to me, since i’ve been out of school for a while, but I’m a little confused on something here…if you wrote the paper originally, why would you need to submit it to find out if you plagiarized?
