so building a 2.2 ectotec would be cheaper and more reliable than a 2.4?

Ecotec build = HOLY CHEAP BATMAN
an L61 build is a HELL of alot cheaper than a LD9 build
Hrm, 2.2 to 2.2 swap? :eekdance:
Find a busted Saab 9-3.
I have a turbo 2.4 LD9. It’s decently quick for a stock engine on 8psi and I’ve had no problems with the engine or auto transmission yet. I may crank the boost a little and see what I get out of it. If you have it, the LD9’s pretty easy to build a turbo kit for and make power with, but if you’ve got some extra cash to burn, I’d suggest swapping in the 2.2 Ecotec. As others have said, it’s got tons of potential and very easy to build. Properly tuned, a lightly built Eco can make a lot of power.
Actually my next big project is to swap in a built Eco with a 5 speed. With forged pistons and rods, stock head and cams, stock ignition with colder plugs and a 57 trim T3/T04E turbo at 20 psi, it’ll realistically put down around 315 to the wheels and be tame enough to be daly driven…that’s my plan.
if ur gonan spend all teh money in the world on an ecotech, just get the lsj and make it turbo
i have a turbo manny for a 2.4 i’d be willing to part with
it mounts the turbo high…
Naw the L61 is cheaper and I’ll take the .2 liters in displacement over the 2.0. Plus I’m not spending all the money in the world, just enough to buy some pistons and rods, then I’ll tear it all apart and build it myself.
And just so everyone knows, it’s Ecotec with no H on the end
