Quibids.com

I see the commercials all the time for this and was curious if anyone has actually tried this website out.

I have. It’s really like gambling. It’s all about timing and commitment. I got and iPod touch 64gig for $62.50 plus $40 in bids.

I see it says it’s free to join but how much does it cost per month/per year/per bid? What’s the catch?

Seems obnoxious to me.

Website is a genius scheme.

It’s on par with lottery of giving people false hopes and dreams.

Smoke and mirrors make it seem like a laptops sell for $26 dollars.

Well that “$26” is 2600 penny bids, bought at 60 cents each. Therefore the website made just over $1300 on that bidding war.

Awesome. Wish I made it :lol

Exactly. Jon was even telling me they have bidding auctions on BIDS. fucking genius right there, make people bid on stuff that costs them nothing. win win.

Yeah, so they sold a ~$1400 TV for $300 plus whatever bids people used, but probably made $4-5K from the bids.

It’s like eBay, where time you bid it actually charges you, win or lose.

Except no third party involved, this also motivates you to make sure you win, which has same effect on all your competition when in reality only one person will be a winner and many others will lose money.

Pure genius.

It’s free. It’s .60 cents per bid and your limited to winning 8 auctions every 31 days. Beezid.com is the same thing and have been around longer. Beezid has bigger ticket items, even cars sometimes.

It’s all about luck honestly, theres 2-3 of the sites that are legit and “major” players if you will. Beezid, Quibids and theres 1 more that i tried out originally a year or two ago that I can’t think of right this second.

It’s free to sign up, and most of them give you a few “free” bids, basicly you pay to bid, you buy bids say 100 bids for 20 bucks. Every time you bid the price goes up by a penny or one some auctions by 30 cents or 60 cents or whatever.

You can get “deals” but your still generally going to pay pretty close to retail, maybe at a 10-20% discount. If you get something at a low price with low bids its pure luck.

So you might win something for 60 bucks but you might spend 100 bucks in bids. Even if you don’t win you still wasted money on Bids that you don’t get back.

It’s a waste of time really unless your feeling lucky.

It’s tricky to say the least. My GF bought $75 worth of gift certificates after being brainwashed by the commercials, she said she broke even getting them but I think she spent more than that she’s just embarassed to tell me.

The real genius part, is where every bid adds a certain amount of time to the auction. On Ebay, I know by my connection, and whatever else affects it, that if I place a bid at 7secs, and its more than the other persons bid, I will win it. As there is not enough time for some one to rebid. So, I would never bother with these sites. Maybe run one tho :lol

I’m shocked it’s still around to be honest. I checked out the site and how it worked then thought to myself "They must think I’m a hot damn fool to pay for bids.’

This kind of reminds me when bottled water hit and I used to think “who the fuck would pay for water when you can get it free else where!”

People never cease to amaze.

“A fool and his money are easily parted”

Reminds me of scratch off players.
