to bad I already have an account Bing lol

If you want a hosted service, myibay.com works well.

If you want to run a program on your PC (or mac, or linux box) try jbidwatcher.

ohh i read that as sniper rifles

but a bid sniper sounds cool too (not as cool as actually sniper rifles though)

I use the jbidwatcher. Seems to work well and its free.

Why don’t you just set your max bids higher?

Oh and I use bidnip

I don’t understand the point of this, if you put in your max bid, ebay automatically bids for you up to the max bid.

I didn’t either at first, but it works. Gets you out of bid wars when you and other people might be sitting there at the auction end and keep bidding it up.

i guess what he’s saying is, if you put in your ACTUAL high bid the first time, you don’t need this.

i literally just had this happen yesterday… the guy who out bid me then realized he bid too mush so aborted the purchase and i got the second chance… then i realized that i didnt really want it anyways, i just didnt want to lose the auction

you set a snipe so that you can catch some items for your comfort price and not have to pay attention to the auction, you let the snipe take care of it.

Obviously if someone else is willing to pay more for it you wont win, but you cant use software to prevent people from being willing or able to pay more for stuff…

Awww. I’m illiterate. I came in here looking for Auction Sniper Rifles… Fucking typical Arab.

Just buy some credits… it’s so incredibly cheap…

The problem with doing it via eBay is it will instantly bid up to your max, giving the other bidders a chance to increase their bids.

Example, you and I are bidding on an xbox 360 and the auction closes in 5 hours. You bid a max of $100 though eBay and you’re currently winning bidder @ 75. If I go through ebay and set my max bid to $120 I’ll be winning at $102.50, but you’ll get a notification that you’ve been beaten and have a chance to up your bid. If I use a sniping service it won’t try placing my bid until just before the auction ends, giving you no chance to adjust your bid.

I’ve won several items using these systems.

^ That’s the one I’ve been using.

I’m still not really getting it… so there is an X-box at $75. You don’t bid at all…JOE bids 120 like he did above how does the snipe help you get it for $100? Are you hoping that JOE sees $75 and only bids a max of $100 instead of $120?

I’d only get it if his max bid was 100. It’s a risk you run using a sniper, not knowing what other people’s max bid is until after the auction ends. In my case I always have a price I’m willing to pay, so I put that in as my snipe price. If it get it, great. If I don’t it was more than I was willing to pay, so also great.

The advantage is you don’t have to sit there in front of the computer and place the last second bid yourself. And by not using eBay’s auto-bid you don’t drive the price up long before the auction ends, giving other bidders a chance to increase their bids and showing them what your max bid is.

^ this.

Using the sniper also takes away the “I gota have it and Im gona keep bidding until I win” mentality. Obviously so does putting your max bid in ebay and walking away, but this at least has a chance of keeping the price down as well.

The only time I DONT use a sniper is for buy it now auctions. Every other time, there is no reason to not use it.
