Is an aftermarket or custom rail necessary for me to switch my crappy driver’s seat with a racing seat, or can I use the stock rail?
Thanks!

depends what seat you are looking to get …some are interchangeable …such as Recaro and Bride seats if I am correct.
usually a seat manufacturer will make rails for their brand of seats for specific chassis codes such as S13 or Z32
you can modify a stock rail in order to fit a custom aftermarket seat …just needs some welding work done to it …
my advise is buy the right rail for the right seat or else look for someone selling both together …will be easier than sourcing one after …
It’s an R-Spec, clearance at SPeed X.
OK, I spent 10 bucks at HOme Hardware and ghetto fabricated a rail. Works, cept my head hits the roof!
I’m very certain you can modify your stock rails to work with aftermarket seats.
It’s takes alot of time and patience though.
A trick from Pimp my ride was to use the seat back from the new seats and the factory bottom half that retains the seat and rails, fabricate, weld, and bolt them together.
But that seems to be a colossal waste of time…
