Radar detector question

v1 or nothing at all

I got some 180 dollar one at Best Buy. Its a Cobra. It works perfect for me.

this is stupid… i own a beltronics rx65 pro, for me its a great detector, and i researched for about a week before i made my choice. its stupid because the rx65 outperforms the v1 in certain areas, and the v1 outperforms the rx65 in other areas. in general though the rx65 outperforms the v1 BUT lacks in the sense that V1 direction arrows are very helpful… but basically the beltronics Driver STi is better than Both the Rx65 and the V1.

in order: 8500< v1/rx65 < < beltronics driver STi
price: ~300 ~350-400 ~450

*dont be a pussy about getting a detector, you pay for the microprocessor inside the box too which is what determines real vs. false alerts… i had a cheap detector before and its great in the sense that it picks up EVERYTHING, but then you start to turn it off or ignore alerts. what was most annoying was picking up people’s Cobra “undetectable” radar detectors, which my cheap one did…

Get a V1 now, or pay the additional $200 to your least favorite charity.

X…

unfortunately with radar detectors theres an upper echelon (level) and if youre not on top spending the big bucks, theres no point trying…

i wouldnt rely on anything other than the ones i listed previously (8500 is not reliable in my book, good, but just not AS good as the others)

buy a v1 for upgrades, end.

I’ve got an 8500, had it for about 6 years. I know it’s not the best detector any more but it’s given me more heads up than I can count over the years. Looking back i should have spent the extra $100 on a v1, but I’m not fast and furious that much so the 8500 does the job still.

My advice is you pick up anything “upper echelon”, even if you have to look for a used unit.

V1 or ban.

Xander is so lazy he even bought two. One for the VW and one for the zed06.

I’ve used every detector that has been mentioned so far quite extensively (minus the 9500…still working on getting a demo unit for that, gr!)

v1 and escort 8500 work just as well as each other, except v1 gives you arrows.

The cheaper you go from that the less responsiveness and accuracy you receive. You gotta pay to play, unfortunately. So figure out what your budget is in a year for tickets, and see if you have enough to just pony up and get one of those two (or possibly a 9500, but that’s topping out at about $450 + shipping). If you can’t afford one of those two, get a cheaper one WITH THE KNOWLEDGE that it IS NOT AS GOOD , in my personal experience, than the others and DRIVE ACCORDINGLY.

I have a Whistler. It was like 130 bucks from Autozone (I got it for 85, cuz I got a discount. I’m sweet like that.) It has X, K, Ka, and Laser detection. Works fine for me. Also has 360 degree detection. Has VG-2 alert. And POP mode too. It’s pretty sweet.

The only time I got a ticket with it is when a cop put his radar on right as I was passing him. So uh yeah… I got caught.

Go Belltronics, have had it for about 3 1/2 years and have not gotten a ticket yet but then if you’re an idiot and run red lights and put other people’s lives at risk, then maybe you should spend the rediculous amount of money and get a v1. My opinion…bell all the way.

FYI, you never know how much your detector is missing and/or falsing until you either 1) try two out side by side (can only do this if neither is throwing it’s own, which a number of them do) or 2) drive next to someone who has another type of detector. Both of which I’ve done in my testing of units. But even then, you’ll never know 100% unless you have your own radar gun and set up tests, which would definitely be sweet.

Don’t go cheaper than an 8500 unless you can afford potential tickets if you choose to speed.

i dont speed like a dumbass, at most 10 over. i got the beltronics 965, seems to work good.

any use of it?

Living Dangerously > Radar Detectors.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I guess if you’re going to buy one…get the V1.

Ebay has tons of deals

i already bought one.
