Random pics from the year (some automotive content)

Guess I should run and post everytime I snap a pic.

To start off, threw a rod going home to my mom’s on spring break. Was putting the van on the road so not that big of a deal. 15 miles left of a 235 mile trip, got behind some cars doing 55 so I threw it down into 2nd and pulled mad bus lengths on traffic.

2 miles later, NO ROD KNOCK, no warning BOOM!!!. Thought at first it popped out of gear, so I pushed in the clutch, made sure the inginition was on, made sure it was in 5th, and dropped the clutch. Sounded like the “will it blend?” rock edition. So I started to pull over and saw the ground lighting up.

Called AAA, for a tow, but the glowing wasn’t going away. So I called the nine one one. 20 minutes later the local FD shows up, 19 minutes too late.

All I really wanted was the front spoiler, and the block. Well the block has a hole in it, the rest…

drop spring yo;

This pnuematic jack is awsome, not awsome to move on grass though…

the local scrapper gave me a whopping $5 for this;

Next up, me stealing Rubicant’s side of the basement;

that’s about 4 stacks of 8 plus 2 stack of 4 and some other straglers.

185/60 R14 vs. 225/45 R15 which one wins?

The best rain tire ever, are meant for the dirt;

Normal tires have a treadwear of 300, performance tires 200, Hoosier R-comps 40, these;

Last Jan was a trip to Mexico to visit the in-laws. Flew into Mexico City, but stayed most of the time in CuernaVaca, Morales. It was on the other side of a small mountain range. Probably 15 miles, if you do it in a straight line. The main road was about 40 miles, going up the side, doing a hairpin at the top and going back down. Awsome road, three lanes both ways, however was stuck in a Nissan Platina with a 1.5l and a wife as a speed limiter.

scenery crap, see the peak in the background;

First ever Cusco plates with Progress coilovers;

To start off with threw together a sleeve, you can see it in the camber plate:
O.D. to fit inside the heim join, I.D. to fit over the coilover’s thread.

Next, lathed down the spring perch. Bottom completely flush (as can be seen in previous pic), top just enough so the “camber adjusting screws” don’t contact. Also enough threads of the supplied locking nut thread on seen in next pic;

And assembled. DID NOT use the Cusco nut, used the Progress nut;

Notice the “camber adjusting screws” do not contact through out the travel of the Heim joint.

time to fill up my beer mug…

Cool stuff…minus the whole fire thing…

What is it with you and cars on fire Jeremy?

.
