I think the idea behind the adultery charge is because it is a breach of contract since marriage is a legal contract.
I get that, but like I said, claim you didn’t know something with just about any other crime and you’re still getting charged.
there’s a difference between saying “officer I didn’t know the speed limit was 55” vs. “I didn’t know she was married”
