Mine works sweet, even in the garage.
What was yours doing?

Whatever you do DONT get the E1000/E2000/E3000…
I had a E3000 for two days, it was quite possibly the least reliable router ever made. Loaded DD-WRT on it, didnt help at all. It randomly locked up, wireless kept going down under heavy loads, and needed manual reboots.
My friend got a E2000, and his randomly reboots and locks up as well.
WRT54Gs are generally ROCK solid, but fairly slow. My house has cycled through several $200-500 routers over the past few years, and by FAR the best one, was the Apple Airport Extreme. It never had a issue, has good range, a USB port that allow for easy file sharing, is fairly fast, and stupidly reliable. It gets heavy abuse, and never went down. And its CHEAPER than the Linksys solutions we had previously, while looking better, requiring no modifications, and being easier to configure.
But for a cheap router? Id say Buffalo WHR-HP-G54, or WRT54G/GL/GS, then load it with the latest Brainslayer release of DD-WRT and config appropriately.
Do you really believe everything you read on the internet? I got them before most of those reviews were up… mine have been working fine…
Edit: There are much better routers out there but he said he wanted something cheap so that’s what I suggested.
+1 for Buffalo,I picked up this one at BB 3 years ago that was reduced to $10 and its been rock solid, flashed it with DDWRT firmware and its never crashed or needed to be reset. Now Buffalo installs DDWRT right from the factory lol.
i agree entirely with all the posts about DDWRT, its what im running on my WRT54G
It wouldnt recognize a usb wireless card while on secure, which wasnt that bad, but on granturismo online, it wouldnt let me in certain rooms, and hear certain people talk. I looked into it, and everyone said it was a router issue, so I returned the router and bought the 54g, all issues went away
my current set up is 2 pcs hardwired to the router, ps3 on wireless, and I have a usb wireless for one of the pcs, when I feel like gaming on the tv as apposed to my monitor.
lol alright. I was hoping there was some router known as the best of the best. Looks like routers are like assholes, or however that saying goes.
I ordered this one. It has three antenni. Must be good.

WNDR37AV (WNDR3700), go big or go home.
What I found is that the WRT54G recommendations (or similar) are ollllllllllllld. It’s a rock solid router, but its been far surpassed these days. Is it fine for most stuff, sure, but there are lots of better options out there these days.
You really need to pick one that pairs well with your devices if you already have them too. Are you looking for range, speed, or both? Are you going to stream wireless HD mkIVs or just browse the web and watch pornhub?
Whats your budget? Do you want features like USB for a printer or HD?
The E1000/2000/3000 series are good budget variants of my original suggestion, pick one based on a feature set that matches your needs.
edit-
Whoops, too late. I looked at that one as well, you should be happy I think.
Yeah mostly porn for me and trolling baby forums for the wife (coincidence?), so anything built in the last 10 years would probably work fine.
That router is alright. If you’re into that snazzy N networking, its one of the better options.
yeah that should do alright. I just try and stay away from belkin because i have had way too many bad experiences with their products, including a usb wireless dongle literally melting…
LOL no offense, but your opinion is invalid:
:ham:
I honestly do not see how that comment has any function aside from trying to offend me.
