Recommendations on machining?

i know where have been a few similar threads, but i can’t just look at them because i also need to ask…what should i have done while there?

i need to know of a good automotive machine shop, i want quality work, but dont want to pay out my ass for it…

i’m gonna need to do some internal work on my car to fix the horrible compression numbers i had last season (which led to my horrible dyno numbers), and i have no idea where to start and where to go…

right now i’m planning on new gaskets, cleaning/replacing valve lifters where necessary, weisco pistons, and i wanna make sure all rods/rod bearings are still in good shape…

what i’m not familiar with though is what needs to be done as far as machine work goes, and this is where all of you come into play…

my ears are open, please help me out…i’ve been saying it for a couple years now, but now that the hard part is over, maybe this year i can actually compete a bit…

i would contact Ddrop for machine work, he may be able to hook you up with good guys cheap. dont know if hes here, may have to run over to ubrf but i would say a nice light hone to smooth the cylinder walls and then assembly with new internals. they would also most likely inspect all your bearings and such to let you know what you need to replace.

cool thanks…and do you have any idea on what their rates are for the kinda work i’m looking to get?

and anybody else out there with a recommendation?
