redrilling stock 4 lug rotors to 5 lug?

I’m doing my 5 lug conversion soon. I’m debating either just redrilling my existing rotors or should i just buy new ones? I’ve asked a few people about getting them redrilled and they all say its not a good idea. What do you guys think? I believe its cheaper if I just get them redrilled but if safety becomes an issue I won’t bother.

its fine to redrill rotors…but if your staying with stock calipers just buy new ones

new rotors never hurt

unfortunately the bolt spacing put a few bolts too close to one another this weakens the hub flange if you can find some grub screws or a softer steel bolt of a courser thread pitch, the idea is to X thread ( essentially lock ) the bolt into the old holes and then trim off the top and bottom of the bolts to effectivly make a solid flange again then you can redrill 4 holes using one of the OEM’s for a starting hole… if you have a friend with a rotary table on a mill use that with an end mill, drill bits holes are not really ’ round’ but a bit triangluar in shape, pressing in a stud will be almost impossible without clearencing the hole to fit the press fit locking base. ( which will make the press fit, semi press fit… )

sounds like to much work to do this…I think i’m just gonna shop around for some new rotors. probably get cross drilled or something. I have another question that isn’t really related but my s13 has ABS would I look for S14 SE rotors with ABS or does it matter??

Several members have drilled their own rotors and have had no issue with them after multiple seasons and track days. I myself am running front rotors that are drilled for both 4 and 5 lug pattern and have been running this set up for almost 3 years with no problems or cracking. All you need to drill your own is a drill press, a second rotor as a guide and some high quality drill bits.

Do you clamp the two down and drill through the S13 rotors to make the 4hole pattern on the Z32s? Or do you mark the holes first and then drill only the Z32s?
