rotor re-drilling

anyone know where i can get rotors re-drilled?

preferably in the niagara area

redrilled for the hubs? (4lug or 5 lug) or cross drilled on the actual break part of the rotor?

he most likely mean for the hubs.

matty, get a drill press and a sharp bit.

is it commong for people to do this themselves?

im only hesitant because its breaks

Brakes… =D and yes I’ve done it myself.

its pretty straight forward…

if you’re re-drilling 5 bolt to 4 bolt… simply start by using a common hole between the two, shovel in a dowel pin the same DIA and then clamp the rotors together perfectly…

then each time you finish drilling a hole, put in another dowel pin which will keep it from turning

start with a small pilot hole and slowly work your way up…

brakes haha sorry

i knew the second i saw that i typed breaks, (iono) someone would correct me

so i put the 5 bolt rotor face to face with one of my 4 bolt rotors (hub to hub)

lined up a common hole and then marked the remaining three on the 5 bolt rotor

the other three come very close to the existing 5 bolt holes, but there will be about 4-5 mm of metal bewteen the holes

is this safe enough to run?

Some will argue that its not safe Im sure but MANY people do it without any problems. I know of (2) people in KW along who are running on 5 bolt rotors re-drilled to 4 bolt, one of which is Darian (S13GG) and hes crazy/beats on his shit hard so if he cant break them or run into a problem, then I highly doubt you will either.

I ran the above mentioned setup @ dunnville without a problem. I even had a stripped wheel stud… 0_0

I bolted the rotors face to face, then center marked the 3 holes, unbolted the rotors then drilled with the proper size bit.

The drill press I used was small and wouldn’t fit both rotors.

When drilling, lube with oil! I’d drill a mm or 2 then put more oil inside the hole… Worked out well. Obviously this was taught to me while drilling as I didn’t know this before. The other thing I picked up was to use a slow speed on metal.
