Well its been 1 year in the NECC ranks, and up till the last few months a great experience for someone new to the whole car scene. But after the last few months everyone on the forum has started being assholes to everyone. I don’t know the number of times that topics have been locked down because of flaming. Personally I just shrug and walk away, but its been pissing me off lately. Why post anything when all you get for answers is not even on topic of answering. Sure some of it has been stupid topics and I’ve had my share of those.
But when you get your car called a “rusted out beater” when you spend time making sure that it doesn’t have more than surface rust on rock chips and you clean those out. Sure its been in 2 accidents since I joined up, but that’s life for you…
Suffice to say the whole meaning of this little rant is that I’m considering not even renewing my membership just because of small bullshit. This used to be a community back when I joined and now its more like a fucking joke. Seriously I don’t give a fuck what response I receive from this, but that’s my view. Some of you will do the “If you don’t like it leave” thing but seriously why does everyone have to leave because your being a dick….
A forum isnt the entire club there is alot more to the club such as events and meets. The internet will always be filled with smart ass answers and if you cant handle that then …Dont come. Frankly i would like to see this place be more like Freshalloy.com. That way we would avoid answering the same damn questions in 10 threads. I know that i will seldomly post unless i have searched and exhausted all the sites resources.
And remember there are some people on here that have been involved with the club for 5+ years and get annoyed sometimes with some of the noobs that show up sometimes.
To be honest, all I had to do was rant that out… plus i’d make the membership payment… It’ll pay it self off next track season… maybe i break the bottom 5 spots…

Im going to have to agree. A good rule is, if you wouldnt say it to the guys face at the next meet, keep it off the net. There are alot of people on here who post regularly and say whatever they feel like. Not a good idea, especially when they rarley show up to a necc function. People can get the wrong idea when they never met the other person. I can go say Dave drives a POS and he knows in joking. But if I went and said that to some new guy he would probably be offended.
But with this forum, it represents the club and people should be trying to act in a way that shows how the club is. If someone who is a member says something like, your a stupid noob, it will be taken as a direct reflection of how necc members act…not a good idea in my mind.
Just like saying, there will always be stupid people who do burnouts at meets. We have rules about that and I think there should be some about e-thuging aswell.
I agree. The people that have been on here 5+ years and helped get NECC off the ground are getting kinda pissed off at alot. Newb’s, e-thugs, 12 years olds and their 600 WHP questions are starting to get annoying. (Not saying your one at all) I think it would benefit all of us if we could all be civic, but i highly doubt that will ever happen on the internet.
For now on RWD tech will be tech questions only. If it gets off topic it will be deleted or locked. Keep it in generel or somewhere else. People post in a tech forum for answears and not e-thuggin.

I know your pain. I’ve actually been talking about this with other board of directors members for awhile now. The problem is that it’s difficult to police the posts and make it friendly for everyone without becoming a nazi moderator and locking everything down. Personally, I wish people would keep non-helpful/insulting posts to a minimum…it makes the NECC look bad and pushes noobs away.
I think people forget that at one point they didn’t know shit about cars and had to learn…and some still do. :E
I also hate the e-thuggery. I try to do my best to control it, but then I get shit on by everyone saying I’m a nazi and this is becoming more like 780. The bottom line is there are assholes on here that think they are better than everyone. We all started as newbs once. Nobody was “born l33t” There are guys on here that just need to respect the younger members. Otherwise they think we are all a bunch of assholes and they won’t be involved. Yes, there is more to the club than the forum, but if people think everyone in the club is a giant asshole, they probably aren’t going to make the jump from just being an observer to becoming a functioning member of the club.
The other hard part is the people who are being the assholes are a lot of the more senior guys around here. I don’t want to start banning them because I know they aren’t like that in real life. But since there is “more to the club than the forum” maybe I should ban them and they can participate in the other aspects of the club, because they aren’t mature enough to participate in the forum.

I’ve been saying this for a while but I don’t think making us Mods will help the problem. I mostly stick to the FWD section because that’s what I know and it’s what I’m good at. I don’t think I have ever posted in RWD Chat. Maybe people who actually show up to meets should carry some more power as they are the ones people meet in real life. I missed 2 events this year (2 track days). Other than that I was out to every event we had this year. Its people like Spec_v who are young and don’t realize that Spec V’'s aren’t the center of FWD forums. I’ve tried to work with him but I don’t think he is getting it. I’m the first to help a noob but he is really starting to annoy me also… The Rust one was kind of rude.

IMO (and I am on the hater e-thuggery side) moderation is doing a really good job.
Site is not so nazi-restricted like other sites and it is not filled up with retarded talk in daily basis.
There will always be shit-talk back and forward every once a while, but thats what makes it so hilarious because after all everybody likes to laugh at a moron over the net.
and the reason why more shit talk has been hapening as of late is because the jdm fad is getting more popular and younger ricers are buying more jdm’s and NECC is the spot to be when you own a nissan and there are sometimes plain dumb retards.
I think the insults that are completely unrelated or uncalled for should be punished hardly, but like Flavio said, when you start reading the same bullshit “how should I tune my stock sr” or “Should I build a 1000hp ca18” thread every day, that deserves some getting made fun of…
Let’s please not turn these threads into daycare. I would understand an official complaint if you were really offended by a completely unrelated insult, that should be reported to an admin and taken care of accordingly, but if you get into an argument with someone in a thread, talk back and egg him on for a good few pages, than complain and cry to admins about how mean they are ?! GET FUCKED! (I am just saying generally, this is not Fallen’s case whatsoever)
