Replace wrx with e30...?

Bob, haven’t you graduated RIT yet? Make some big bucks!

I was gonna say, its been like… 5 years since I’ve seen him… can’t still be at RIT…

I’m still here

Haha I graduated a couple years ago, but still in rochester and at RIT every other day at the gym. Working on making some $$$, but finding a new job has been going slow…

I’ll have to investigate the 328i, never looked at them before.

Bringing this back, guy says car needs a head gasket now and is open to offers. Its insanely clean body/interior, is it worth like $2k-2.5K ya think?

can you do a headgasket? Are you prepared to open a beehive?

Sounds like a PITA. Offer him 1.5k and keep searching.

Yea I’ve never done a HG but pretty sure I can figure it out with the help of some friends…but the guy is still trying to get 2800-3000 for the car, so probably not going to be happening. He thinks it has some super collector value or some shit. Just curious, anyone know approximately what a M50 swap would run? Just very generally speaking.

PM coldaccord, he could answer questions on that. I’m actually surprised he hasn’t posted in this thread yet.

Coldaccord is the man when it comes to Bimmer parts and snaggin’ biscuits in hockey.

I have a complete m50 swap, bolt/plug in and go. I’m considering letting it go if the price is right. Got a thread somewhere in the for sale section with all the details in you’re interested.

Hey guys, so I kept looking all summer and came across a 91 318i 4 door recently. Its got 110k on it, most major maintenance done, very little rust, super clean interior etc… Appears to be a really good car, maintenance records for most of its life confirm. Guy is being pretty firm on his price, $3000, but I really don’t want to pay that much for just a 318. What do you guys think is reasonable? Is $3k actually decent for a good low mileage car?

I looked around for the year and mileage, its the best condition one I’ve seen, but $3k is like 160k+ 325 price. Is it worth it to pay more for the low miles? I don’t care that its super slow.

if its clean he will get his money

Since when did buying a high mileage euro car become a great decision for saving money…

What happened to buying a Civic

It’s cool I like E30s I was just trying to understand the logic I would assume parts would be more expensive.

3k would be right with no rust at all and not really needing anything. You could easily get a clean one if you’re willing to travel outside of the rust belt.

Minglor and I did a headgasket on his/my old e30. It wasn’t too bad at all

Nevermind, didn’t see the new post. That’s a bit steep for a 318

Thanks for the input guys, here’s a link to the pictures of the car:

I could probably swing a 600-700 mile 1 way road trip for a car, but not much more right now, especially with the holidays coming up tough to find someone willing to make the drive. If you guys know of anything let me know, I’ve been on e30tech, r3vlimited, and bimmerforums pretty much non stop past few months. My budget is right around $3k.

You could find a clean m50 swapped one for around 4 or 5k… Maybe save up some quarters and get one that’s quick, and if done right, more reliable than an m20 would be?

Saw this, but looks like it needs a decent bit of work to get “perfect”…
