my reverse lights on my 90 240sx have stopped working. They had been working before. i have replaced the fuse and both light bulbs and still nothing. anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong? thanks
grounding issue maybe?
where is the ground and how would i check if it’s wired right?
Not entirely sure about the 240SX but the 300ZX has a Switch in the Transmission for the Reverse light that commonly goes bad.
I remember there was a switch like that in my 1982 Datsun 200SX too. I had to replace the one in my 300ZX and now it works perfectly.
The 240SX is probably the same. That’s something you may want to look at
these switches are also commonmly found in the shifter assemby (or console).
or you an bypass the whole system and use a relay and switch…
makey your own for $25.00 and some time…its no big deal…really!
hmmmm. Haven’t heard of it being there too often but I usually see Nissan ones on the Right side of the Tranny.
You can make your own no problems and avoid having to purchase the Nissan Original.
When I changed my engine the tranny came with it. The tranny had a good switch, so I didn’t need to buy a new one. 5 Speed reverse light switch costs $35USD for my car. I’m sure it can be sourced somewhere else even cheaper.
I doubt a relay and switch would cost $25.00. You can piece everything together from Crappy Tire for ~$5.00.
