That video is stupid ^^^^
Love my Silverado. Been beating on it and no probs. the stock truck w a 5.3 is plenty for towing and 1500 series work stuff.
I hated my 01 ram. The 5.2 motor it had was half of what the Chevy 4.8s are. I looked at new hemi rams and Eco boosts. The prices for decent package trucks were crazy the add the power sunroof, power sliding back window, motor mirrors,… They chevy was the clear choice
Only thing the ram had better was the heated wheel
Only thing the ford had better was back up camera and puddle lights

Ps. Dimes hemi was very fast for the few mods he has. Prolly neck and neck w a stock Eco boost
I have an 08 sierra with the 5.3. Awesome to drive around. Absolutely horrible when I need it to be a truck. I avg 13.5-14.5mpg with it, but I also have 285/70/17 tires on it. Used to get 15-16, but I don’t care about mileage really.
I need more truck than a 1/2 ton, but it struggles with my 5k open trailer and car… 4k rpm just to stay at speed sucks… Load the bed with lumber, drywall, or tile… The fucker sags so bad with any weight in it. Again, nice to drive around, but it’s a bitch truck. I swear my 97 F-150 towed the trailer better, and was a better work truck than my 08 GMC.
Next one will be an F-150, or an older F-250.
My V8 6.2l gets 14.7 highway with 91 (non ethanol). I thought that was good. Fuck MPG
My 2002 Escalade EXT with 120k gets 15mpg avg, although its mainly highway about (13miles each way to work, 26miles a day) although I’d do a few miles stop in go each day too. Has the 6.0 High output - LQ9, also is AWD! Instant mpg shows around 20mpg on the highway maintaining speed between 55-70mph.
I average 13.5 in an 07 2500 express van with a 6.0 and 4.10 gears.
Capable of towing 10000 lbs, regularly tows 8000 without a hiccup, except you’re getting 8mpg highway, 7 if it’s hilly.
It’s also a more capable truck than any of the vehicles discussed so far. We’ve had 3000 lbs in the back and there is no noticeable squat. And I’ve had 14ft+ boxes completely inside it, do that with a truck. When I need to work, I can’t wait for it to stop raining.
All that being said, the chevy 4.8 is still more truck than what 99.99% of truck owners need. Car companies know this so they build 1/2 tons that ride great and have way too nice interiors, but they aren’t really building them to be abused. The bigger motors are really just for guys who want a truck with a lot of power so it isn’t slow, not really for any practical reasons. Personally I’ll take a fast car and something more capable for work that I don’t need to be as glamorous.
Come to think of it, it’s actually easier to pick up a pallet of something with a van because you don’t have to take the tailgate off.
I gotta say joes truck is hurting w those huge tires. My truck tows my open deck and car no prob and the new era tuned def helped mine even more.
I have a 2012 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the quad cab. I get 12- 13mpg around town driving like I stole it. Fuck mpg. I didn’t buy it to save money on gas.
few mods? zero mods. i only changed the muffler. still even has stock tail pipes
btw, you mean to tell me theres a heated steering wheel option for my truck? i need to look into this. had no idea lol
