riddle me this..... car title/lien issue

M&T may have been the bank financing land rover. There would have been a lien from someone if there was a loan given

Contact M&T. I had a lien on the title of my '96 Subaru which I bought for $1,400. M&T provided me with a lein release document very quickly.

Are we talking same day?

Guy is supposed to pick it up tomorrow at 11am

iv registered cars with the title still stamped with a lein. dosnt mean there is one still. shit lol when i financed my 05 honda through American Honda Finance the title the DMV sent me doesnt have a lein on it

I had no problems in NY with the registration with the lien on it.

The problem arose when I moved out of state. Vermont would not allow me to register the car as in Vermont, you do not receive a title for a car with a lein on it. The lienholder holds the title until the lien is released.

As for how soon, it was not same day. I want to say it was a few business days though.

F, did you go to an actual bank branch or just contact them?

I need it like ASAP

I called the main customer service line as I had ZERO clue where the loan originated other than that it was a lien from M&T. I had a release document faxed to me. It went relatively smoothly.

Your best bet is calling M&T at their earliest business hours, and speaking with a representative there to see how quickly they can assist you.

AMEN to someone that knows the truth.

if he is reasonable, you could give the buyer the lien release when you get it, and he can just keep it with the title as proof.

(when i sold my civic, the buyer wanted the lien release. i had to track down the previous owner, because hsbc wouldnt release anything without him, even though they had no record of a loan for it. finally got it after a couple days…i ended up buying the same car back several months later, and the title still had a lien on it.)

Well Im heading to an M&T to bust some skulls at 9 am tomorrow. Ill update tomorrow

thats messed up. they do the same thing in Washington state too. My brother went to sell his truck that he had there and said “I dont have the title, the bank does” I said, bull shit, why does the bank have your title, thats retarded. who would buy a vehicle from you then wait 2 weeks for proof you own it.

atleast NY does one thing right.
