Do yourself a favor, make it a habit to visually check and make sure it is up. Better yet, take the freaking kick stand off if you are at the track. Guy is lucky since he is at a track, otherwise he may have just ran off a cliff or ran into on coming traffic…
I saw a guy on a harley start riding with his kick stand down a few weeks ago. I yelled to get him to stop and he didn’t hear me over his gutless dump. Lucky it folded up when it scraped.
My dad got into a really bad crash when he was younger because he got pissed and took off without putting the stand up. Went down at like 100. He got lucky.
It should stall as soon as its put into gear…UNLESS you have a non OEM stand, I had an adjustable height one on the Kawi and it did not stall when it was down.
This seems to happen to a lot of track guys, IDK why you would even have the stand down at the line. Also I guess they gut the bike to get rid of as much weight as possible. So i could see someone removing the switch that stalls out the bike when the kick stand is down. to save those few oz of weight.:lol
A street bike that people take to ride on the track? Depends on club rules, most likely yes.
That video looks to me like that guy is just doing a trackday on his street bike. which explains the kick stand. Either he disabled the switch or the switch is faulty.
