Try checking for vaccum leaks. CIS is super sensitive to vaccum leaks. It also could be defribulator (small rectangle shaped thing, usually black or grey in color, two pin connector going into the side of it, located on the front of the fuel distributor, facing the front of the car.) This regulates fuel pressure between the upper and lower chambers of the fuel distributor, if it goes bad, you could have similar drivability issues as you are discribing. The fuel accumulator could also be bad, causing any residual pressure in the system to be non exsistant, which would give you starting issues. Just a few things that come to mind.
my best guess is also a vaccum leak. my car acted similar after i had done some work on it and i realized i missed a vaccum line when i was putting everything back together.
my car also did similar things, but a little more intermittently and it was a bad ground.

more like adjust your flapper. amirite?
hmm…
i’m having some problems still. tonight it started and ran fine but when i went to give it gas it just wanted to stall. after 5 minutes of hitting the gas it finally revved instead of trying to die.
you’re a girl. you’re on nyspeed. ask for someone to come look at it. while they’re there, bat your eyelashes and twirl your hair around your finger.
problem will be solved.

did you check your vaccum lines? i am really thinking it’s a vaccum leak of some sort. do you still live in derby?
okay thanks for telling me the vehicle (why would i look in your profile you may have more than 1 car ). i have a 1990 Audi 100 quattro. Does the same exact thing. unplug the differential pressure regulator on the cis unit and see if that works(start it up and then unplug it). This is the only way to make mine run as i don’t feel like investing time in such a large pile of you-know-what. i’ll find a pic of said DPR and host it up here…
dex, i live in blasdell off of big tree.
psycho, i will try that.
everyone, squid on ditb checked for noticeable vacuum leaks, as did i. i just got my fuel filter changed, maybe they did it wrong? it’s not the fuel pump. i can hear it turn on. now sometimes it doesn’t want to start unless i sit there and try and turn it over for awhile, and then it starts real slow but like it doesn’t want to.
man i should make a vid of starting my audi. in fact tomorrow i will. we can compare symptoms!..

my winter car last year had 255k on it, but the prev owner maintained it pretty darn well (did a boatload of work)
I wonder if it’s a sticking EGR valve…
