Some of my Vw Friends went down to waterfest this past weekend here is a krazy story with some pix about what happend to one of the guys.
Thats right, it happened, but before i tell the story he DID get it back!
We went to New Jersey for “Waterfest” which is the biggest VW/Audi show in North America. Hevey’s car was entered in the show on the sunday and we both put our cars in exhibition on sat. we were staying at the Howard Johnson in New Bunswick when it happened. we woke up at 7:30am to go wash his car before the show just to find out that it wasn’t there - stolen! 4 other S4’s were also stolen from various hotels.
After Dealing with police and sitting around depressed we decided to go to the show. as soon as we got there he got a call…the police informing him they found his car! immediatley we left the show and were directed to a police station off the freeway. after that we were sent to the impound lot/towing place, but they told us they couldn’t release the vehicle until monday at 8am. that said, after driving around for 3 hours we went back to the show that we had missed and caught the Very end of it in the pouring rain.
The next day we went to pick up the car from the lot. when we got there it didn’t seem to be in too bad of condition. They had stolen his headlights (ripped it right off the tabs - idiots), punched a hole in his door in order to get in, broken his ignition (he had to use a screw driver to start his car all day) and stole all the stuff he had in his car - approx. $1500 worth of stuff. they also dented his fender, scratched his bumper along with some other minor damage to the car.
The Police found the car on the side of the interstate around 9:30am. the theives were obviously driving the shit out of the car as they drove it so hard they popped the intercooler pipping off. the car didn’t run right and stalled out so they left it on the road and took what they could. if it wasn’t for the intercooler it would have been gone.
at the impound lot we took off his bumper, fixed the piping and made sure it ran correct. We taped some turn signals to the bumper and drove it 9 hours back to canada. it was a good thing it ran fine or else we didn’t know how we would ever get it back.
