if your computer literate… yes one time cost, other wise you’ll be paying to have your receiver programmed everytime the signal gets scrambled…
if you plan on doing the install yourself… you’ll need a satelite install kit, comes with satelite finder, cable, bunch of other stuff… but i would recommend you get some on to install it… it can get kinda tricky when your trying to find latitute and longitude, etc…
when it comes to your reciever, you’ll want something with onboard memory, makes channel surfing faster, loads the guides faster too. something like Coolsat, creative workz i hear is good too.
if your gonna do self-programing you’ll need a bit of software, and some basic internet search skills. also serial cable to connect PC to reciever to upload the bins. this doesnt have to be done all the time, but often enough.
heres some reading material to get you started… i recommend you read read read and read somemore… it’ll save you time and money! good luck and welcome to free to air tv!!
I have been paying for expresVu for about 3 years now. It cost me about $100/month for the package I have. 3 regular & 1 digital receivers.
That sucks paying $1,200/year for TV.
The one time cost is the way to go, as long as you can download the codes yourself as it crashes. I plan to do this but keep the basic monthly package in case it crashes & I have nothiong for days.
You could probably have someone install your dish & receiver for about $100 cash.
Gonad, how much time do you want to spend fiddling? Some brands go down faster then others, sorta like some admins steal db’s faster then others…
Things to consider.
Most major brands now allow updates through a USB memory stick. (Serial cables will only be needed on a major crash).
Most major brands have updates within 1-2 days. Some, depending on how old or un-popular the unit is will tak 2-5 days.
The best coders work for different brands depending on how much they get paid. SO, update speed is not guaranteed and will change.
If you get n-fusion, you’re looking at the best uptime but highest risk. n-fusion is a card key sharing and get’s code updates automatically through your network connection. If the gov’t outlaws gray market sat they may sue n-fusion and force them to send ftp logs identifying Canadian IP’s… it’s skeptical… but should be considered.
Remember: This is a hobby and not a service. It will BREAK!
Also put some consideration into the type of picture quality and sound quality you want for your system. Many sat. receivers don’t offer optical or coax digital audio out for your surround sound. Resolution output capability and the type of connection offered should also be considered. Some people are happy with S-video… Make sure the receive has the type of connections you’re looking for.
Maybe all of this is obvious but it hasn’t been mentioned yet… just a thought.
If you need a dish I have what must be a first generation Digital ExpresVu Dish. I say first gen because its got be be about 4 years old. NIB if you need it.
yes cuz there is no way there gonna figure out someones ip from them downloading bins form any other site
n-fusion is the way to go if u dont wanna keep reloading shit , but if u want to have satellite all the time
get 4 dishes going at the same time , because ivehad bell up for like 6 months now , no crashes, but my dishnet is not up , i just dont care, my parents both run dishnet, and they have to get reloaded every 3-4 weeks, but sometimes good for a long time , as far as cost goes , if u want i can see if my boy will drive out there to install your dishes for you , shits mad easy once u get the hang of it , also if u run alot of dishes and more than one network , your porn content is great , no more sticky keyboard, only downside to bell is they have one gay porn channel in the middle of all the straight shit
card? fta systems dont use cards , they are usually cardless receivers , and the files that are usd are called bins, like a *.bin file, thats the file extension
, and just incase umm im lost as to what u are saying , u need bin files for cards as well
Sad but true. nFusion is the only way to go. Nagra3 encryption is soon to be in place, it will be the first box back up. Also the only one that rarely ever goes down during ECMs.
