in stock form are all small block chevy push rods the same size? im putting a 400 sbc together and i have a set of rods from a 305 in my garage will they work or should i buy a set?
no the will not,400 are a longer strock!

pushrods are the same, as long as they are not from a roller cam.

You just need to forget about that 305, bring it over here and forget you ever made that mistake…
If you are running guideplates, you need hardened push rods. There are several different diameter pushrods, available in many lengths. It’s best to check your valvetrain geometry to make sure you aren’t side-loading the valve tips, especially if you are using roller-tip rockers.
