I dont see too many people on here that are big into domestics, so I doubt youre gonna see a 500+hp heads and cam camaro … Maybe there could be a displacement limit as well as N/A. I was hoping that DOT tires could even out the playing field. These are just ideas :ponder
Do NA Hondas really have that much trouble hooking on DRs? I know Stallmer’s B16 turbo hatch would rape 24" slicks but if you saw the flat torque curve you would understand why
And yes N2O is forced induction. Youre introducing an artificial, oxygen rich, atmosphere that expands rapidly when heated and acts very similar to boost but with absolutely no parasitic loss.
We’ll have to work something out to make the rules fair for everyone. This wouldnt be bracket racing, its heads up car and driver vs car and driver. Then obviously the time slips and exclusive coverage would be posted on this site. It would take a few volunteers for organization, rule enforcement, record keeping, and even photography. Some local sponsorship would be nice too such as Synapse, JVG, and others. They could set up tents and displays and stuff and have info on their products and services on hand. Im just brainstorming
So the showdown at lvd, is this going to be a track rental day or what? i think it’d be a little confusing doing it on a wed. night or one of the sat. t&t days.
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the many opportunities awaiting your club here at Lebanon Valley. Groups that enjoy racing can come out for an open session track rental, private rental or a Saturday test and tune day. Groups who prefer show and shine days can schedule a day of their own or combine with another event or group. The possibilities are endless.
On open rental days we welcome car clubs, groups and individuals. Come out and test and tune with your group. The cost is just $70 per car. Less than 50 cars the cost is $140 per car. Your rental fee includes track preparation and glue, time slips, insurance, EMT and ambulance, Dragway staff and free admittance for your family and friends. There is also incentive pricing available for large groups. If your club brings 30+ cars you will receive 1 free car, 40+ cars = 2 free cars, 50+ cars = 3 free cars and 60+ cars = 4 free cars. In an effort to give each car plenty of runs we limit the amount of cars at a rental to between 60 and 70 cars. Registration on a track rental day starts at 9am in the tower office. Tech will be open from 9am to 1pm and cars will start racing in both lanes from 10am to 3pm. Fuel is available on these days as well as concessions.
If you have a large group and wish to schedule a private rental session we would be happy to accommodate you. The same pricing incentives will apply.
If you would like to share your experience with others in the racing community, we invite you to allow us to place your contact information on our website to open the invitation for fellow racers.
If your group prefers to come during the weekend you may want to take advantage of our Saturday test and tune. The cost is just $30 per car and $10 for crew and spectators. Our gates open at 8am on the weekends and racing starts at 10am.
That’s from the LVD website on track rentals. I’d say it’s something to think about and try to get the guys from Albany Underground to pitch in and we could have a big field of cars.
if you can get 50+ people for a track rental then this would be good, but i cant see many people paying 140+ per person for this event. often time they mix clubs and groups to get a good amount of people though.
I think we should run all cars together and run matches based on aa qualify time to keep the racing close and fun to watch. I dont want to watch a n/a D16 Civic run a 35R Evo. Its just not cool. But if it were based on a qualify time we should be able to groop the slower cars together and make it more interesting. and maybe have a prize for consistency or something. I watched a bracket race were they had small prizes for people who ran closest to 15.0, 14.0, 13.0 and so on. There are many ways to make it interesting… we just have to keep the ideas flowing
Do you know how many runs you can make for $140? You would get your money worth but who wants to put 10 miles on their car at full throttle. Youre right we would need some help but on the other hand, if we mixed the event with a little car show maybe that could help pay for our racing. But, then we have another event to plan alltogether and we would still have to split the cost with other people. but I am not opposed to that. We would need some preregistration so we know how many people we are getting. It would have to be well advertised as well but that shouldnt be too hard… 50 people… lets aim for 100 lol
It’s harder than you think to organize an event like that.
I could take care of pre-registration and securing positions upto the event, and in a case it didn’t happen and we didn’t meet our goal I could just refund everybody.
It would be great if we could get a group large enough.
