When you purchase a short block, does it typically have all of the oil gallery plugs installed?
I was going over my block today and it’s missing the 3 rear oil gallery plugs, the top rear vertical oil gallery plug, and the plug right above the oil filter boss.
Also, I thought the plugs above the camshaft tunnel were supposed to be soft plugs, not threaded plugs. Especially the two side ones which have a pinhole in them.
yes they are screwed in plug & yes they all should be pluged!
Parts manual & my old block have the front three oil gallery plugs as soft plugs. :dunno:
its been awhile,so maybe they are soft plug,old old ones on the rear above the cam wheres scwered
Yep, those ones are screwed. I’m going to call the engine builder monday.
I just thought they would have all been plugged already. wah wah wah 
In case you’re wondering, yes the three front one are usually soft plugs, but for higher than stock hp levels, they like to drill and tap them for a threaded plug.
And the missing ones were just an oops.

Yeah, it does give you that uneasy feeling, but Victory Racing Engines really does seem to be a reputable place despite this oversight. I did check for the steel ball plug too though just in case!
I never trust that anything is right, I always check. Good thing too, or I would have had a lot of oil leaking out!
That’s definately not a bad habit to have! It’s the engineer coming out in you
