The idea of expanding operations has always been tossed around. We have considered importing from other countries besides Japan such as the US (clean southern cars) and parts of Europe.
Any thoughts?
Would you buy a clean US 240sx or something like an EVO VIII or IX through RightDrive?
Obviously, we would extend our business model to these cars as well. Fully imported, nothing left to the consumer but to enjoy the vehicle (e-tested, cert’d, powertrain warranty, financing, trade in’s welcomed, etc etc).
I think this is a great idea. So many people have thought about importing a clean southern 240. Depending on prices I think you guys would do well with this.
Yes, I believe this would be a smart move, plainly because nobody truely understands even US to Canada import laws and regulations. It would be excellent to have a local importer who can, as Smitty said, bring clean southern 240s in.
Plus I’m certain there would be much interest in Evos.
if you could bring them in for a decent price i would definetly pick one up understanding they would not be 1600 and what not as you have to make money and do all the hard work but yeah i would paid 4-6g`s for a southern car
I highly doubt it will be worth your efforts to bring in clean US 240’s. Seems like too much effort for what you’ll be able to mark one up for. Euro 200sx’s on the other hand, I’d say there definatly is a market for, RHD is the thing that holds alot of people back from buying a 180sx or similar. Evos is a definate yes.
Considering i’m looking for a clean US shell or complete car i think this is a terrific idea. I want one, but I don’t personally wanna deal with the hassle.
The opportunities are there and this helps to combat a threat that is currently facing the industry. Our company strengths can be transferred to these markets. From a strategy standpoint it makes lots of sense. Right now, its just logistics troubles.
Keep in mind, this wouldn’t be just be 240’s and evo’s. Anything from Z’s to MRS’s and everything in between.
great idea, you’ll be tapping into a market which looks for specific vehicles and with the new bumper law out of the way…you’ll save a lot of people the time and trouble to look for some of the cars themselves.
