Finaly got around to converting the trunk to a show style flip down
thats be good for me, no more bashing my head on the lid everytime I’m searching for something. Yes, I do that a lot.
lol Its real easy and you can do it for less than $10. Or you could try to pay attention and not smoke your melon
only thing is you have to undo that half latch when u close it
its not even that bad… the way i did it i used a locking mechanisim similar to what you’d find on a gate. ( The one you slide over ) Attached that to the underside of the trunk and drilled a hole in the main supporting arms to receive the bolt when it slides over. so while its in the locked position the trunk functions 100% normally, then when you want to convert it you simply unlock the locks, fold it down, and there you go
Yeah, except I tend to get excited when I find something I’ve lost…
Good job. I have never been a fan of how it looks.
wow … did u buy that get off ebay…causemy buddy did and all he got was those 2 hindges
- those hindges will were out and the truck will shack and vibrate a lot more now
nope bought my own. they are alot more solid than the ebay floppy ones
Looks like garbage. Just my opinion though. Looks like fence hinges and nothing covering the old setup. I don’t understand why people do stuff like this? Baffles me.
EDIT: see the roof of your garage, that is what your trunk now looks like.
Well to each his own i suppose. I like it and it was a fun easy cheap mod to do
Personally i agree.
To the OP you posted pic’s for people’s opinion. And you got it. Sorry everyone could not like it
Not bad. Do you find that those trunk arms take up any more room than the factory ones? That’s one thing that’s bothered me about the Alty, particularly when the trunk’s full with hockey gear or something. The arms tend to get in the way.
They are the factory trunk arms. nothing was replaced only hinges and locking pins added
Ahhh, I get it now. I should’ve looked at the pictures a little more closely the first time. Essentially when open, the trunk is just flipped down from it’s normal vertical position. Clever.
Maybe it’s my computer background, but I’m always more comfortable with mods that can be reversed easily. With software it’s easy to go crazy because you can always revert to a backed-up copy in case of a problem. This is a great example of a simple mod that can be made invisible any time you choose.
Yeah its only 10 min to install or reverse and is only 12 tiny holes (6 per side) 3 are hidden by the trunk itself and the other 3 are hidden in behind the trunk carpet
are those hinges durable enough to even hold that trunk  ??
yeah they work fine. The trunk is really light maybe 10lbs tops
I agree with Jason. The hinge is slightly bent as you can see in the picture.
HAHAHHAHAHA where has N-E-C-C been?? always good for a laugh… on a serious note i bet all the civic drivers will love it
