Trunk Hydro's

Hey guys, now i know this is probably the easiest question to answer but keep in my mind im not too bright lol… I need to get the hydraulics in my trunk fixed because the damn thing is heavy and wont stay up by itself, where could i go to get this fixed and how much you think it will run me?

Just buy new struts for the trunk. I doubt they’ll be expensive, but hey … it is a Nissan.

In a pinch, you can try and bend the struts a bit. Basically with the trunk open, push outwards on each piston to add a little bend. That will usually keep them up.

i have the same issue now, ive changed my rotted trunk to a new one with a spoiler and the thing wont stay up lol… i even did what he said… try to bend it but dont help… guess that wing weights alittle to much…

im guessing canadian tire will have new rods but when you say that your trunk wont stay open… do you mean u lift and drops right away… or after a few seconds/minutes it starts to slid down?

Trade the good hatch for someone’s rusted one… rusted hatch is lighter than a mint one.

You’d be suprised at how heavy the spoiler is. It’s so much easier to open the hatch once you get rid of it. As to the struts… keep a broken hockey stick in the back of your car to prop it open

or some vise grips. just clamp them on the piston when the hatch is all the way up.

OR instead of looking like a cheap guy who uses tools and broken things to hold up your hatch try looking for some rods with me… LOL

going to pass by canadian tire today see what they have to offer… maybe i should take one of those heavy duty dodge caravan rods LOL!!!

also… i know this is prob the wrong place to ask this buy i wanted to remove the rear windshield and trow on my original on because my original was tinted and the replacement is not. Is there a way to remove them or how to?

i had someone tell me there meant to break when you remove them but that cant be true… can they cause thats just plain gay if he is right??

any ideas on how to remove it because i dont like dickin around but im guessing theres screws underneath the black plastic/rubber around the windshield.

Just pop off one of your struts and walk through Canadian Tire and find one that’s close.

You can also try Princess Auto. They usually have tons of these struts for cheap.

Hatch glass is not specifically designed to break, they just do, and very well.

You need a special tool to remove glass. You don’t NEED it, but you will really want it if you don’t want to break it.

Basically on the end of it is a right angle blade. You press that into the urethane and then use the handle to pull the blade along, cutting all the urethane.

You’ll also need a long Xacto blade, because quite often the other tool won’t cut deep enough.

If you get the tool’s blade too close to the glass, well it’s done.

If you even chip the glass, it’s pretty much done.

Window glass will all but explode if you apply even just a little bit of force to it.

Yes, I know that Canadian Tire has these I got a set earlier this year. I think they are close to $20 each though.

You just have to go to the counter and tell them what car you have and what you want.

The hood ones for my g/f’s Bonneville were about $32 per. The s13 hatch is lighter so they may be cheaper.

I think my cost from work is like $25 each shocks.

would the stock rods of the s13 hatch the able to hold up with the added spoiler on if there brank new rods??

if not then im guessing i need something stronger… ahhh i’ll just ask the counter guy lol…

and to take off the rods if anyone is asking its just a bolt… forget the size or it but its just a bolt and just kinda bend the rod so the rounded/nipple thingy lol attached to he trunk to remove it… looks like its going to brake off but its normal lol!!!
