i really wanted to get a c5 in the worst way! and my mind was set untill i went down to slp day in orlando flordia last year a seens and brand new–allready modded yellow z06 shift from third to fourth–and then something went in the rear end–turned to the left hard hit the wall went air born at least 15=in the air spinning all over the place and lsmming back down on the ground driver walked out of teh car without a scratch- z06 was destroyed came home week later got tha TA ill see if i can still find the video
There’s a lot of members in my club running pretty low times and huge trap speeds on stock C5 rearends. They aren’t really that weak, but they’re not ideal for drag racing. They handle the power, especially on street tires. They’ll handle decent power on ETStreets (or better) but probably not as much as that TT puts out (for too long at least) on ETs. When they do break they break half shafts, so you do lose power to one wheel which can make the car hard to control, but it’s not like they’re breaking tie rods or whatever the early Cobra IRS was breaking that actually caused the rearwheels to turn! Upgraded half shafts and transaxle girldes are available too.
