This might be a dumb question, but how did the bank know that the pics you sent to them were actually travis’s car? Did they see proof of the vin or what? I mean for how do they know you didnt send them pics of any old car and they turned over the paperwork to a perfectly fine car to you?

Yes, VIN was photographed on car both on the burnt dash and in the doorjamb.
