putting it back together
tanks?? what tanks?
a few pics of the new suspension…got a few more pics ill post later of the front suspension and how low it sits…the nitrous tank on the left is a 2.5 pounder and the right is a 3 pounder…both fit snug with room for a 3rd tank in the center and one more in the back storage compartment…the reason i had to use a different suspension is b/c the track is skinnier and the idler wheels get moved inward…the back axle gets the outer wheels removed…this whole setup wil work in the fall when i change the traack to a 144 x 13.5 speed track for the ice…
putting the gears back in…49 on the bottom 29 on the top…the gears are good to 130 mph at 8500 rpms
before i put the new shocks on
after i put the new shocks on
really really low
before i adjusted them
figured i’d clean up the chaincase cover a bit…its not perfect but after the first pass down the track it’ll be covered in brake dust anyways…
all back together…gonna finish up poutting it back together this afternoon…still waiting on a few small parts…i’ll probably be there weds may 4th if i cant get there earlier…
re-adjusted the suspension so that the most amount of track is touching the ground…ordered 4 sets of wheels for to help it roll easier…they should be here later in the week…gonna make a few test passes on a strip of road out by me later in the week…gotta add the qwik-connects to the cooling system so i can cool it off at the track, i’ll work on that tommorow…gotta add the blocks that adjust the suspension and some gear oil to the chaincase and i’ll be all set for the valley…the plan as of right now is to break it out on weds the 4th…untill then im just busy setting up the clutch and trying to get it somewhat close
So on the rear skid you just add more wheels to it so its not riding on the sliders it rides on the wheels? or it still needs some sort of slider/hyfax on the skid?
Also being that low, and having the arms, tie rods at that angle, is the bump steer going to be off?
Annnd please tell me your putting a GOOD digital coolant gauge on that thing. I dont want to see it cook and you wack the wall 2/3 track!
i actually removed all the outerwheels because the track is skinnier so the wheels wont touch the track anyways…i add wheels inbetween the rails to help iut roll easier and to displace the weight for more traction…even though its low it still it suspended…got about an inch or so of travel…there is no stearing really involved more leaning as any movement of the handlebars result in a durastic turn…as far as cooling goes i have a stock gauge that is very accurate, but im still going to add a gauge at the quick connects, just to be 100%…i’d be more worried of a belt blowing apart or blowing the chaincase apart…neither of which " should" happen but you never know…
So… Huge shot on a stock engine with no tuning? Good luck!
:ponderitll go to the dyno before i put a bigger shot to it…right now its on a small conservative shot…the pistons are the size of coffee cans…33n/26f is barely there…prolly 15 a hole if that…very safe
new look for the headlights
got the quick connects done today what a bitch they were to figure out…ended up taking the thermostat housing (for some reason the machs never had a thermostat??) and flipping it around so it points towards the clutch side and added a longer hose for the return…should work fine…gonna test it tomm along with adding my wheels from walh bros and a few other small parts…and she will be good to go…the weather looks good for friday night so im thinking about bringing it out to the ice cream shop for people to see…not 100% sure yet tho…gonna make a few passes on a quiet ( at about 545ishpm) road…the guy thats been helping me said there shouldn’t be any traction on the street…he also said as it sits right now it should be able to run a 10.xx…see what happens i guess
so i got this to the track yesterday…
1st run: 1/4 ____________ with a 1.529 60 foot 660: 7.079 @ 90.07
2nd run: 1/4 11.669 @ 104.61 with a 1.594 60 foot 660:7.190 @ 91.17
3rd run: 1/4 11.156 @ 110.91 with a 1.530 60 foot 660:6.86 @ 95.45
4th run: 1/4 11.476 @ 93.77 with a 1.65 60 foot 660: 7.085 @ 93.77
reaction times:
1st run .141
2nd run .099
3rd run .066
4th run .136
between the 3rd and 4th run i tried to get a run inbetween but didnt get up to the line quick enough after changing the clickers on the clutch and didnt have anymore ice to cool the machine off…it was heat soaked pretty bad and was in limp mode by the time i crossed the 660…mind you there was a 6 mph headwind all day and about 58 degrees…idk yet if im going to go on weds and hope for no rain and a cool night…its probably not worth it seeing as someone will break and we will only get 3 runs…im still undecided…
between the 2nd and 3rd run i changed the arms in the clutch from 800 arms to adjustable arms that came in my new clutch
Sounds like the 9 second track star was a bit ambitious eh?
i didn’t expect to go out on the first try and run 9’s…especially on motor…yesterday was all motor and getting a feel for the track…the clutches are still a ways away from being right …a 1.5 60 foot isnt the best for a sled…it was hard to work with seeing as i was alone and didnt have someone to observe what it was doing…i gained 5 mph from rolling the dice on what arms to use in the clutch…i still have alot to play with
mods, please adjust to say 11 sec track star, thanks
thanks kweefer…itll get there…ive gotta play with the clutches some more and get them right before i start spraying it…if i had rubin on it, it woulda went 10.xs…we are gonna go back nextt sat weather permitting and see what i can get out of it…
radoman , thisng thing is 2 stroke man . u runnin a fuel jet in that kit as well ?
yeahp…right now its got 33n 26f…like i said i didnt use it sat…this upcoming sat i might use it but im not 100% sure yet…if i do decide ill use alot smaller jets ill start out with something like 20f 26n and see where its at…def not gonna take it the whole way the only 660 on the juice and run motor the 1/4…itll suck because the motor will have a little bit too much fuel and not have all the power in the world
gonna go to the track on sat…looking for low 10’s at the end of the day…on motor
all set for tomm…got 3 coolers full of ice just gotta pick em up…should be there early around 9ish…see you guys there
went 10.82 @ 117 on motor…changed a broken bogie wheel today and im gonna play with the clutches a little more this week…might go to the track on sat not sure yet
Not bad dude you are getting there. Should rip once its on the bottle
do the exh jackass , it will help with your backhalf performance man
