I have a 2006 limited w/ the 5.7 and what i think is a towing package. I bought the car used a year ago and it has the receiver built into the rear bumper. Fenders say “trail rated” if that matters.
I’ve noticed my commander sits a little higher than most from the beginning but never more than an inch or so, Anyways Last night i installed my 2’’ lift front and rear and noticed something odd…
Before i started the lift i measured the vehicle height. From ground to fender measuring from the center of the front wheel i had 33’’ of height.
After installing the lift i now have 37’’ of height how the hell do i gain 4inches from a 2inch spacer? And the rear didn’t seem to move up to much at all, i took some odd poly donuts off the back where the spring attaches to the body. they were about 1’’ thick and NOT in the parts diagram for my car.
I wis i could scroll to the left with my iPhone but for some reason every picture I ca only see half. So I can’t give you input lol wish I could see it.
Its the suspension geometry. The front has control arms, so the lift ratio wouldn’t be 1:1. The rear is a solid axle, so the spacer in the rear is probably 1:1. If you take out a rubber 1" spacer out back and add in a 2" spacer you’re only going to go up 1". You most likly required a 3" spacer to lift the rear 2" if removing the rubber peice.
I’d also guess that the trail rated version may have some with those spacers from the factory to give it a more aggrisive stance.
