Jesus Christ, is it a noticable or an important difference? What, becuase it takes you .5 seconds to load your porn, is that going to take you out of the mood? For what he’s using it for, he’s not going to miss that millisecond you gain loading IE.
wait till he is rocking out to mp3s, on aim, browsing the web, and then one of his microsoft applications throws a shit… its reeeeeboooot time!!! thats just not cool with this cat
don’t take the authority to claim what he’s not going to or going to miss, and what is an acceptable return time loading IE.
if you use that little thing called a ‘task manager’ and ‘manage’ the ‘tasks’ on your computer, you’ll see the variance in loads from a celeron to p4 from even the simplest processes… even just loading windows…
it’s all beside the point, but i’m never ever going to say that a celeron is OK.
great! another computer thread turned into a arguement! :drama:
Keep it going, gives me some entertainment while at work!
Who cares what components it has, as long as it suits Darkstars needs, it’s a good computer then. And only for $350, it means more money for other things.
this was my exact reasoning.
Yeah, I’ll just shut up and let the people with degrees who know what they’re talking about speak.
ya i heard alot of bad things about e machines, all my friends that had them they locked up
what does a degree have to do with anything?
i dont have one.
I don’t have a complete degree… but first hand experience > degree
Guess what, I have first hand experience too! I assumed that Sonny and Whitey both had degrees in it.
then you should know you’re wrong.
It is better than the GateWay i got…good deal
I’m whoring this thread for a moment. Sorry Darkstar, don’t want to start another computer thread. Which pre-built computers ie Gateway, Dell, etc. are better?
Well, for the average user of internet / AIM/ Mp3s / E-mail, I’m not. Most people that I’ve encountered would rather save the money, plus wouldn’t notice the difference in performance. Hell, my P3-500 Mhz machine did all of the above well until it fried itself last summer.
I agree that it will do the job fairly adaquately but by no means comparable to a regular P4. But my train of thought tells me that if there is a better way, why bother with mediocracy?
FYI, Gateway owns E-Machines now…
and i got an Information Sciences degree, not a degree in hardware… you get that from experience
why? because i’m a know-it-all?
i just KNOW that celerons are trash.
i just KNOW that i work on tons and tons of neglected computers, and time after time, the celerons are the ones that lock up and freeze. just because i’m some big shot nerd for my company, doesn’t mean that everyone doesn’t still bring me their home computers to work on… i see what their kids do and i see what works and what does not.
processing and longevity of celerons are intrinsic… it’s only good for a little while then it all comes crashing down.
I’d buy a Dell if I had the money. But if I was planning on spending big money on a computer like that, I’d probably just build it myself. Get a lot better shit for a lot less money.
it probably only has to last for a few months…
