new fucking computer...wooohooo

after 8 yrs, 20+ keyboards, and 1 harddrive later, i retired the 200 mhz computer.

now im rolling in a cadillac in comparison- it is an e-machine, wasn’t buying a compaq. Only thing that sucks is i have to transfer all my shit off my old hard drive, as well as figure out wtf my aol im password is b/c cock suckers wont send it to me.

congrats :bigok:

nice!

those emachines are a great price. this week they are under $400 for a whole system (PC, monitor, printer)

thats what i got. wanted just a tower, but got printer/scanner, tower, 17in monitor, keyboard, mouse, 1 yr warranty, 100 cdr’s, and usb cord for a total of 882.31

then rebates add up to 370 bucks.

so total is 512.31 (50 bucks more than i wanted to pay, but i got alot of shit)

and i have 18 months to pay it off, interest free. hell yeah. dude was like 90 days, 6 months or 18. i was like—“fuck, 18 months man”

link?

go sailor

thx.

It’s always nice to have a new system… what’s the specs on that bad-boy? I’m not much of a Emachines fan, but I suppose they serve a purpose and that’s a pretty incredible price (I was ‘very conservative’ in building my system last fall and spent around 2k for everything).

2.5 ghz intel celeron processor, 48 max write cdr drive, 40 gig hd, 256 mb, windows xp, 6 usb ports, soem intel extreme graphics card (i dunno), windows xp (still gettign use to)

put it this way, my old computer started life as a win 95 1st edition 133 mhz, 2 gig hd, 16 bit ram, 4 speed cd drive. in the time i owned it, i was able to steal from dead pitt computers a 40 speed cd drive, 90 meg of ram, 15 gig hd, and bump the processor to 200 mhz and win 98 se. everything on the computer sucked=- excpet the stickers on the monitor/case.

onlty thing that blows is i have to figure out a way to get my files off my old computer onto my new one. have about 1300 mp3’s i wanan save, some pics, and all my papers from sr year of college that i have yet to transfer to disk.

shouldn’t i be able to install my old hd inline w/ my new one and switch back and forth? just need the longer ribbon w/ extra plug, correct? i dont feel liek settign up my old computer and network linking the two, but i may have to do that.

you can put your old HD in your machine… just make sure you set the jumpers to slave on the old HD

^ what he said…not a big fan of e-machines but sounds much nicer than what you had before:bigthumb:

Doh,

I wish you would have said something, I could of pointed you to dell refurb online and you could of paid about the same price.

thnx, but i couldn’t wait any longer. e-machine’s stuff is not top notch elite hacker, but it is not a pile of shit like compaq. atleast i actually have room inside the tower to upgrade etc.

however, i do need a dvd rom drive…

All I’m gonna say is:

You get what you pay for, there are reasons they are cheaper. You can cut corners on some things like power supplies, monitors, and other shit.

There is a reason Dell is #1 and putting the other people out of business and it just isn’t price.

agree’d

things are built cheap and it does suck for those guys that lose jobs over it. i bought about 70 compaqs in the last 2 years and probably went through 7 monther boards, 2 power supplies… but the bitch of it all is that i bought about 50 veiwsonic flats and already sent 15 or so back…

cheap is good and cheap is bad. i’ve been having luck with my personal pc for years now… still bustin out on my 866… my 1.8 at work runs good but still has shitty days…

computers just suck

I bought my dell right after the Pentium III’s came out. i got the 450MHZ. still works great. never had one problem with it, except for all the pirated software that i put on it when i was at RMU started to fuck things up a bit…

well, i needed something asap. when x-box has a better cpu than ur desktop, u know ur behind the times. it writes my papers, finds me porn, and gets me mp3’s.
