So i've been thinking about going to the dark side..

I just don’t get the logic.
some people seem to be hell-bent on skipping to the end of the line and get a supersport right out of the door.
apparently they only want to ever ride one bike.
what’s wrong with trying smaller bikes for starters?
is it the whole “bigger is better” mentality?

never be “comfortable” when you get comfortable with something, you begin to lose respect for what its truely capable of doing, and thats when bad things happen

dont you think i’d be saying i wanted the 1098R if bigger was better? or a ZX-14 w/ nitrous.

I only defend what i want, because i dont think it is even close to as big of a mistake as you have made it out to be. It’s not a heavy overpowered bike, it’s light like 600’s and there are plenty of faster bikes. It’s good looking, sounds good, handles good, and if i can control myself on it i shouldnt have any problem driving it like someone would on a 600. The only difference i can really see is the Torque… it hits power earlier, unlike 600’s where you need to hit 10k rpm to feel like your moving.

is money just not a factor in this equation?
do you want to take the chance that you’ll forget to put a kickstand down, start in gear, or do something equally stupid and drop a 13k bike, costing you another 5k to fix it?

it hits power earlier, unlike 600’s where you need to hit 10k rpm to feel like your moving.

wait, what?
10k to feel like moving on a 600?
this has to be a joke, admit it.

I’m sure ill get flamed for this, but what am i gonna break at a stand still? a mirror? some scratches? if the bike fell over i would have it re-painted the same color as my car.

And who buys a 13k bike, and isnt careful around it?

10k was an exaggeration, but vtwins have a bit more torque, which 600’s dont. So the sensation of power, lifting the front tire, and being pushed back would be one of the major differences.

I don’t know how crunchy the fairings are on it, and how crash-hardened the components are, but depending on your luck you could be out the entire fairing (cracked, or holes put through it) , gas tank (dented by the handlebars, shifter/brake levers, clutch/brake levers, engine/tranny cover and other small stuff.
those add up on any bike, let a lone a duc.
they might not brake, but dent and scratch, either way it will look like shit if it happens.
careful or not, people make mistakes.
there is no chime alarm for forgetting to put the kickstand down, or picking a bad spot to do it at.

yeah that def makes sence. i mean i can’t say whether or not something stupid would happen, i know the chances are good. But i’m pretty careful with my honda, and its just a pos honda. I really just want a bike thats nice to look at, preforms good, and i can have for a while and keep nice. I can’t drive a pos… unless its to deliver pizzas :nod

so, you’re saying that 600s that can power wheelie in second don’t have enough torque for you?

no, but i’m saying on 600’s when you lift the wheels, you are trying to lift the wheels. On the ducati it would be more of a challenge to keep the wheel on the ground when you open it up. But the real point, is that i wont be power wheelieing anytime soon, especially on a Duacti.

so, duc is less newb-friendly, we both agree on that.
so why in the world would you want the extra challenge of keeping the front tire on the ground on a first, very expensive bike?
I just don’t get it :headbang
are looks so important you that you just can’t get a smaller bike first to learn on?
it’s not like anything except ducs looks like shit or anything.

no… i could do a starter bike, but i wouldnt want to be seen riding it.

I mean i wasn’t good at sex when i first started… but i didnt fuck a fugly chick to figure it out. :crackup

But you told me I was beautiful… :sad

you choked me and screamed “CALL ME BEAUTIFUL BITCH!!!”… i just didnt want you to hurt me…

:wow

poser mentality if I ever saw it.
being concerned about what others might think to such an extent is not exactly a strong suit.

I mean i wasn’t good at sex when i first started… but i didnt fuck a fugly chick to figure it out :crackup

oh yeah, every guy on this board only fucks supermodels and lost virginity at age 5, well-known fact :haha

i wouldnt take it that far, but you can ask around… they’ve been pretty decent.

it has nothing to do with being a poser, i just dont want to ride a pos.

anything except a duc is a pos? :haha
the revelations just keep coming.

you keep coming to your own conclusions. I never said anything but a ducati is a pos. i just said i dont want to ride a pos.
