I don’t recall ever telling you to ride a pos, so the conclusions are all yours.
this is pointless, you clearly made up your mind a long time ago so do whatever you want.
no, the conclusion that i said anything but a ducati was a pos… you came to. I would gladly ride a new 600, i like the cbr’s, but i dont want to buy one. I like the ducati’s and i’m only gonna buy something i really like.
u guys need to calm the fuck down… he just rode my heavy ass boat anchor RC51 and did just fine. and so what if he wants a side of spaghetti and meat balls… they r sick ass bikes and i would get one if i didn’t already have a bike. i think u guys r just a little jealous BC he can get a bike like this for his first and ur still ridding huffys. OOO i mean 600’s that power wheelie 2nd… BC thats a well known FACT.he wants what he wants… let it go … its not ur concern… END OF STORY. its another motorcycle enthusiast looking to get int he game, congratulate him not criticize him.
The only thing I’m even going to ask about is what is with people saying “I just rode such an such bike and did just fine so I can ride.” My first time on a bike ever I pulled away just fine and did fine for the whole 10 minutes on it but in no way does that mean I’m fine on a bike. Am I missing something to this or are people really basing their skill level off a 10 minute ride around the block?
You’re the man :idiots
I’m going to go out tomorrow and learn to fly on an F22 raptor, fuck that Cesna slow planes, I wouldn’t be caught dead seen it, I got self control I used to fly RC planes around the yard :headbang
not exactly the same thing. you obviously just dont think i can keep myself under control and give it proper time to learn on that bike, which is fine but its not gonna stop me from trying if i actually get it.
It’s EXACTLY the same thing. You’re starting out on something that is a little more then a beginner should handle (F22) which in the real world eyes is considered insane. No matter how much self control you have it’s just a bad idea to learn to fly on the ultimate flying machine.
But this has been fruitless since post 1, so buy it, keep telling yourself you can handle it and got self control.
A friend of mine who is the most dormant person you would ever meet, never going above 4K in any car he has ever had, bought a 600RR last week and was going 140mpg on highway yesterday. After I would tell him it’s too much, everybody and their mother told me he would never have the bike above 6k and would go very easy on it.
Yeah that proved me wrong :
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
If you’re buying a bike just for the looks, that’s poser material. If you’re buying a fast bike and saying you’re not going to be going fast on it you’re being illogical. If you’re saying price isn’t an issue but you don’t want to buy another bike to start on, once again illogical. If you care about what the other’s think of you, you will end up riding in flip flops and t-shirt to the nearest gym.
sooo, back to my first post, DO IT… B/c i know when you get it i will get to ride it :nod I love stealing my friends bikes for lil cruises.
no offense. This is the dumbest post.
If he didn’t care what others thought and marched to the beat of his own drum, then why would he make a post on the public forum concerning said purchase?
He obviously cares what others think.
My .02? Others have given you the stats and logical thinking. It’s your money, do what you want with it. But I would suggest that if/when you DO get the bike, if you ever drop it or come to an accident, I wouldn’t make it very public, because every person and their cousin’s dog groomers sister is going to say I told you so.
So do what you want. It’s a free country, and it’s your money.
i really made the post to get peoples opinions about the bike, and although it is more expensive if its worth the money… because of how it looks, the name, the performance… etc. Wasn’t really looking for page long posts about beginner riders that can’t handle bikes and crash and statistics.
if he does drop it and need help i will be there with the truck and bike straps to help him bring it to rev to fix it up no matter what the bike
hey none taken… i mean ur a perfect example. u got a 600 just like everyone is telling him to get and u went down multipule times, shit happens life goes on.
AMEN !
the damn insurance and the type of loan you got if its full coverage im very sure it will be, your gonna have an awesome time paying for that,
BUT you gotta love 14-15 bucks filling your tank on a 4+ dollar per gallon rate so riding alot is really no problem.
that bike is rediculousssssssssssss if you get that I may just have to sex it up a little bit
looks good tho, for real, be careful on it… seriously
hehe you say that NOW ! you will drive that thing every chance you get
since I am sort of in the same position as you trying to start out on a ridiculous first bike, and everything telling me, im going to die etc and I’m stupid I cant control it, I just gotta say, if you have common sense im sure you will be ok, but beware even with common sense, you do get a lil fucked up, something about these bikes fucks you up and you wind up doing shit you never said you were going to before, i hit 150 on my bike already… and i did a bunch of wheelies… i said i wasn’t gonna do either of those lol… so yano, you know more than anyone here if you got enough common sense and self control to own something like that
and yea, im SO GLAD i did not start with a ninja 500 or 250 like I was going to, so glad
but for others im SO GLAD that they DO start with those bikes, cuz some people scare me man… do some silly things
Just invest in some frame sliders/savers ASAP , and get to a parking lot of course, and dont use your front brake when turning so slow thats usually how n00bies dump the bikes is hitting the brake while turning slow ! and dont try to show off even a lil bit cuz thats how u fuck up i seen my friends go down on an R6 and gsxr and shit doing burnouts and wheelies trying to be slick when it was so unnecessary
good luck
p.s. sorry for my stupid typing, using windows mobile 6 pro and this copying pasting stuff to make one post is now worn me out, i’ll wait until i get on my pc to read the rest and my batt is dyin
I dare say he is the perfect example in the complete opposite manner than you are saying. Code you bought your 600 brand new as your first bike did you not? So he did exactly what everyone here is saying not to, including him self, and bought a brand new 600 as his first bike and than proceeded to down it like everyone said he would. So now change the 600 for a Ducati 848 and what do you have? Hell I bought a 1993 Katana 750 and I downed that just like was said.
But hey, its his money his decision and seems he has already made it. The people here aren’t trying to be assholes and they aren’t trying to dissuade anyone from buying a bike because they are jealous or what have they. They are genuinely concerned for a fellow/future rider hoping the best for them and that they can enjoy the sport as safely as possible. Some people are perfectly fine on a much larger bike than is commonly accepted as smart for a beginner, but way to many people aren’t and no one enjoys the outcome when it doesn’t go well.
Code Blue correct me if I’m wrong, Vlad had mentioned that you bought your 600 new and hope I didn’t offend.
some people just seem to have this sophomoric attitude towards bikes (and things in general),
i.e. feeling that they, unlike others, can do things well from the get go.
I don’t know if its stupidity, luck of humility, or plain showboating, or worrying about what some “others” might think.
I personally hated the idea of starting on a 250 myself, because frankly I consider them rather ugly, and they are “weak” compared to any 600.
but I didn’t have cash burning a hole in my pocket, and while I like to think I’m the hot shit, I know better than to act on it (most of the time).
So I went and got a 250, crashed it, and keep riding it.
I could give two shits what anyone here thinks about that, or about riding 250s in general.
I learned on it, will ride the shit out of it, and move up.
those that like to jump ahead of themselves and think they’re better than others will end up whooping themselves sooner or later, all there is to it.
but just because you crashed a 250 doesnt mean that i will? Its a pretty bold statement to say that people that “think they’re better than others” will end up whooping themselves. I never said i was better than anyone, and i may never be as good as some people. But if i’m careful, whos to say the same thing that happened to you is going to happen to me? i could be a natural, or get lucky? none of those are possibilities?
you wanna gamble on being a natural or being lucky with a 13k supersport?
be my guest.
and yeah, people who don’t know humility learn it the hard way sooner or later.
nobody’s a superman, we all make mistakes and have to learn things.
I prefer to learn from other’s mistakes whenever possible, you evidently want to learn from your own.
its not that i want to learn on my own, but i have listened to all of your cautions… so althought i will still buy whatever bike i decide, preferably the 848, i do understand the risks involved, and what to lookout for.
In the bike world, the Ducati is one of the top of the line bikes in my book. Think about it relatively:
When you were 16 and lets say you had enough cash. Instead of buying that beater for your first car, you go out and buy a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV. And because EVERYBODY drives likes a moron at that age you are going to have a MUCH higher chance of crashing and seriously hurting yourself because that car will actually go fast. And Power + Inexperience = Crash. I’m not saying you would crash, just that you have a 90 gazzilion percent higher probability of crashing with more power, when you are inexperienced.
So how does this relate? It’s the same concept. A supersport bike, such as your Ducati that you want, has a MUCH MUCH higher probability of getting you hurt or killed, when your first starting out. What is so hard about starting out on something small, that you can control and learn on and then in a single season, sell and buy the bike you really want? I paid $3900 for my brand new Ninja 250. I will get almost what i paid for it when I sell it so I won’t be taking a big loss. I have not had one instance where the bike was to much for me and now i’m at the point where im beating on it and laying it out around corners. Try doing that when your learning on that Ducati. You will end up stuck in between the guardrails.
Just swallow your need to have a cool looking bike and learn on something small. By the way the new 250 is not an ugly bike like they used to be…
I say go for it, especially if you have the cash to afford one. Insurance will NOT be cheap on it though.
If you’ve gotta sense of self-control and can ride with some people that are willing to help you learn, you will be fine.
