so my sweet new bike doesnt run that well

the battery was at 14 volts when i noticed the wires were hot. I am going to try to buy a whole ‘new’ harness from the gs forum

You don’t need a new harness…
Test resistance when the bike is cold on the stator and coils. Get the bike nice and warm and test it again.
Do the test’s on the regulator / rectifier also. I have the OEM suzuki books at work if you need something let me know. I’m done there in 2 weeks…
Also check out your engine kill button switch…

I have the haynes service manual up through 1997, which the same thing as my '00. SERVICE MANUAL

-page 169 has the R/R testing, 173 for the wiring diagram

so if the RR is shorting to ground it could cause the wires for the regulator to get hot, I guess.

the whole harness comes with the coils and r/r for $20 bucks. kinda silly not to since its hard to get one of those parts for that price.

BUMP. it was the regulator/rectifier. all is good now

but its so SLOOOOOOOOOOW, ran a 15.13 @86 today. LOL. 2.25 60’

this thing has 14’s in it alllll day

ill get the vid up later tonight, ha.

I would love to run you sometime if you are out this way. I have 98 GS500E but it is not stock. All the mods it has I have heard from people who heard it from people though, lol. Supposedly has a decked, ported, and polished head, maybe sleeved too; it for sure has… dynojet stage 3 carbs, K&N intake, Yoshi exhaust, Katana rear wheel, and clip-on bars.

Justin your bike will run pretty quick, it’s set up for twisties not straight lines though =p

just take it to the track. i think i ran low 9’s in the 1/8.

lol nice

that run:
60’ - 2.408
330 - 6.288
1/8 - 9.623 @73.06
1000 - 12.596
1/4 - 15.175@86.46

second run
60’ - 2.258
330 - 6.188
1/8 - 9.565 @72.38
1000 - 12.550
1/4 - 15.131@86.48

I think I poorly shifted 2-3 on the second run.

Indeed. I have my chicken strips down to about a 1/16 of an inch on both sides. This bike loves to lean.

Get that 60’ time down and you’ll be good to go. I’d leave the light at around 8k on that pig.
