C5 interior is getting pretty dated
I had the same list / needs. base C6 is so much better than a C5Z unless you are going to guy the interior and race car. Go for 2008+, the T56 sucks compared to the 6060. the better diff, motor, interior, etc is worth the extra cash. yeah you might go over budget by like $4k, but it’s so worth it. go higher miles, they are so cheap to fix and often very well taken care of.
I ruled out 996 and 335 because no limited slip and parts cost.
I vote option 5 as well. small, light weight, already appreciating in value (versus the rest.) Plenty of upgrades that can be done to make it better than stock as well.
Haha, well it wasnt someone i knew so i didnt rip it hard, i just remember it felt like it pulled hard even in 3rd. But yeah its silly to write a statement about how fast a car felt in 3rd gear.
I think my 05 gto has torque management besides being a pig, does it make a big difference turning it off?
Option 5 (S54) while nice AND appreciating, is no where near your 18k budget, the nicest high mileage unit i have seen in a while just sold for nearly double that.
I could NEVER get a straight answer on that when I had my 06. Some said a tune removed it, some said it felt the same, blah blah blah. I do remember mine would spin the tires if I shifted it quickly into 2nd or 3rd with the T/C on. Some of the guys on LS1gto.com bitched thinking it should spin the rears easier-I prefer traction. Burnouts do NOTHING for me
8, 4 or 1
That AMG is overpriced by a bunch.
I’d factor out all BMW’s mentioned + the 911 C4. Although I do like the E46M & the M-coupe but, as Ian mentioned, you won’t find a well maintained one for that price.
I’m right there with ya on the Vette pop-ups, as I like them on many other vehicles as well. From a price and want concern, I’d like to think the C5Z will fit the bill, will keep your attention and is a nice change of pace from what you were used to.
I just saw this…and it made me laugh cause it’s everything you asked for and the price you want to pay
as much as I love the styling of any Mercedes made before the mid 2000s, they say that a cheap Mercedes is the most expensive kind of Mercedes you can buy.
No sedans or wagons, I already have a wagon that transports people and all my junk just fine - that’s the reason for wanting to downsize as well. Having 2 cars that do the same thing makes zero sense to me
I didn’t read anything except the pictures.
M coupe or vette.
If you are going to get a C6 try to find an '08+. The LS3 is much better than the LS2. Yes they are only separated by 25-30hp from the factory but the heads are world’s better on an LS3. Cam + bolt-ons with the LS3 are typically 475rwhp if you go that route.
He doesn’t want black and I don’t blame him.
128i cause it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
not on the street it’s not

plus i want the factory HUD and hotter cam in the 02 to 04
I know someone will say “you’re gonna cam it anyways so what does it matter”, but i really don’t want to modify this one, just enjoy it with minor bolt ons. famous last words
Pretty sure that is never the case…Sounds like some lame shit a BRZ/FRS owner would say.
I owned a 335i, best to own this car under CPO warranty, it is a really great all around daily and they are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be but still the parts “can” get expensive…
996’s are not my favorite due to the headlights, a turbo would help me get over this, but still not my favorite.
I have always loved the clown shoe bmw, but I have not seen one in your price range in a while (clean car at least).
I really like the C5Z still on the exterior, especially in silver for some reason. I loved driving Xander’s with the Pfadt coilovers and some bolt-ons, really fun stock car that gets surprisingly good mileage and pretty dead reliable.
I vote C5Z06.
remeber to widen your search into Canada. Can’t beat the exchange rate and there economy.
Even the statement somewhat exclusive can get tossed when talking about corvettes in wny.
