They are almost 400 a pop and the motor is on a stand so I cant answer that question yet.
Let me know where you get the 335s mounted, those will be almost impossible to mount with a regular tire machine.
I know… I was actually going to ask you where you got your money wheels mounted. I am really going to spend some time researching a tire shop because if the guy so much as puts a scuff on these wheels Im going to pound him into a puddle. Wont be building shit from jail.
I wouldnt go back to where I had mine mounted. The machine claws that hold the rim down scratched the outside lip of my rims. I was pissed but I was kinda out of luck, nobody around here wanted to mount them anyway. This was like 2 yrs ago though. The claws had rubber coating on them to prevent this but I think they were worn off. The guy had a hell of a time mounting my 295s on 11inch rims, took 2 guys and alot of grunt work. I think they have machines designed for mounting tires like this but I dont know if any shops around here would have one.
I was going to ask Custom Works since they deal in all kinds of large bling rims. They also have the financial backing for good equipment.
They will probably be your best bet.
the guys who did your rims did a good job
but. Violator is someone from spawn. If you are 20-something and still like Spawn enough, to create a username from it…you probably don’t get THAT great of girls…or are THAT great looking.
I like when ppl buy fast cars and ACTUALLY drive them hard, sucks it died tho, i bet the nissan wouldnt die if u did that. and please for the sake of nissan drivers everywhere put that 240sx back together and take me for a drive
the 240 is already being stripped. i am picking up a new car next week.
any shop that has a machine designed to mount runflat tires has a machine capable of mounting a tire such as this, its not realy as rare as you think
just as to see the machine they are using, make sure that the plastic shoe is in place and that its sptlessly clean
alot of shops wind up with the shoe getting all torn up due to removing tires from bent rim, this leaves “plastic needles” poking out all over the place, which can easily war paint
adding to that, if the machine has ben used to dismount tires that are on rusted rims or broken rims, bits of metal dig into the plastic, creating sand paper
any self respecting machine operator should be pulling up on the arm as the tire is rotated, this makes sure the shoe is against the BEAD side of the rim, and not dragging on the outer surface
in 5 years at schmitts garage, mounting EVERY SINGLE TIRE anytime an accident destroyed a tire or rim, im quite proud to say that i never put a single scratch in any wheel
NEVER!
i know this because i made a habit of inspecting every wheel for damage so that i could buff anything out … the most i ever got was a black mark on the surface from a shoe, usualy on the vry edge of the rim, since this is next to a black tire you woudlnt notice if i told you it was there.
some places dont care
some people have bad days
some places dont give a damn how shitty their machines get
some people intenionaly shove the arm downward thinking it will keep it from poping off the rim, this is false
some places use the old style machines with the rotating “pry bar” - these machines should be left for heavy equipment shops and govt funded HS vocational shops where most of the kids are hacks anyways
its prolly in another thread somewhere but what are u going with, the lotus???
Wow, the hate is strong in this thread.
Violater/Jack = I know that You’ve put alot of thought into this car. IIRC I had a discussion with You, on another forum, about tuning and I’m willing to say that You will put actual thought & research into what You do. Again, for that.
Wether I like what You’re doing with this car or not, it’s alot of work and takes dedication to get it done. It also doesnt matter what I think, but I’ll voice my opinion anyhow… the joys of internet.vB. But yea, being “original” is where it’s at Keep it up.
Someone asked about power to justify the wide meats… IIRC, Yea, there should be plenty of power when it gets done.
newman’s trading the sti for a vespa
Nice project Violator, definately alot on your plate. Can i ask why you didnt want to change the offset of the rim and tuck the tires under the car, or at least tuck 2 inches and flare out 2 inches rather then 4 inches? I no its probly just personal preference on your part but i think it would make less work. You said you wanted at least a 5" lip, so what if u narrowed the rear end a bit instead of flaring out so much? I’ve seen camaro’s with the flare some look really good and other get carried away but its still a cool concept either way, very different which sets you apart from others
HotRodKid, i dont think all chevy’s sound bad mine sounds pretty mean 3" 40 series flows
j/k its all in the ear of the beholder…

After lookin at these pix i like the widebody better
independant rear suspensions are quitre hard and expensive to narrow while still maintaining proper geometry
shortening the 1/2 shafts requires shorter control arms to keep the knuckle from pushin in on / pulling away from the 1/2 shafts, which in turn screws up the way the tire tilts during cornering
and i know chevys dont sound “bad”, just saying that mustangs have that easy to identify sound to them, compared to the 18436572 firing order most (almost all?) gm v8’s have
I really dont see your reasoning of how liking Spawn has ANY affect on the kind of girls one gets. Violator started at least 7 years ago when I was Playing LAN Quake tourneys at work. Im older then you think. In any case I never said I was great looking… but I get the girls I get because I dont settle. If you wonder what they look like ask people that have seen them… DrDos, Muscle50…
That TA looks awesome. I know narrowing the rear would have been REALLY easy compared to the crap Im doing. The problem is I got way ahead of myself and sold the Solid axle in exchange for a 04 Cobra IRS. You cannot narrow a IRS. This being a street car I really wanted the much more comfortable ride and controlled handling of a IRS. The solid axle rode like shit and I hated it. I had a Panhard Bar on it and even bought a full torque arm setup before I decided to dump the lot for a more sophisticated setup.
The IRS is being built now with full Delrin/UHMW bushings on all parts, a Torsen T2R Racemaster differential and some bolt on and weld in bracing to handle the power. I REALLY want and will buy the ACPT carbon fiber driveshaft. Its awesome at dampening harmonics and absorbing the torque kick from hard shifts as well as initial launches.
see … now something like this version would make sense, just like if his screen name was:
Power rangers
voltron
barneythepurpledino
tron
frogger
rollercoastertycoon
warftheklingon
violator on the other hand is a character that takes specific knowledge of spawn to know what it is, and yopu probably wouldnt have known if it wasnt for his signature image
a bad ass mustang in a magazine could easily have the artical titled “violator” and noone would ever go “thats such a bad name for a car, violator is a spawn character”
I always thought Jack’s SN was violator because of what he does to his gfs in the bedroom.
