Sobo's Rx-7

Its sobo…make a decent offer and I bet its FS.

Just a little update.

It’s been less than a week and the flaws in the detail are starting to show. There is still some swirling in spots and dull spots are popping throughout. The car still looks okay, but its not up to my standards especially for a $250 exterior only detail.

I contacted cal several times via pm and he pretty much told me there was nothing he could do for me. Apparently my car has no clear on it (which it does everywhere, except the mirrors which aren’t even painted) I’ve taken my car to my paint guy to verify this and gotten advice from other qualified people. To me, this sounded like a lame excuse not to fix a minor problem.

Nothing personal, but I would not do business again. Maybe you guys will have better luck.

How do you know how thick the clear is??

Did you use a gauge?

Someone could have been a cowboy in the past and ate off a lot of clear…

Not defending anyone here but the car is 15+ years old

The fact someone said they ended up ruining multiple pads buffing the car doesn’t really leave a good feeling  and most wool pads are usually cutting pads…So maybe the car had clear before they went at it?

Edit: In cals defense he did just have another kid…and they’re still in the hospital.

was the clear measured before the detail? always taking on a car that old is sketchy, but if there is enough clear there it shouldnt be a problem.

its always tough getting EVERYTHING out of the paint, especially with a car that old.

From the pictures it looks $250 better to me. Unless it’s gone back to the beginning pictures, it looks like it was a solid investment. Especially since we know you will just sell the car anyway.

I really don’t want this to get blown out of proportion like everything else in our small community. If anyone has any comments or questions, pm me. I refuse to argue about this, especially in this thread.

250 is a pretty good deal. Especially seeing that he spent 6 hours on it. Also you have with held some information. Where has the car been the past week, has it been in the rain, sun entire time? Also as everyone has said it’s an old car plus from the pictures you posted it was not very good at all prior to the detail. The after pictures look really good for that old of a car and a hell of alot better than the before pics.

$250 is a really good deal for the work he did. The car is 15yrs old, do you have pics of how it looks now?

LOL are you guys serious? I didn’t even do details this year because everyone seemed to want PERFECTION!!! For like $150. Wish I would have known meh work for $250 was cool.

I heard the wool pads they used were red after they buffed it…

Generally not a good sign :frowning:

The car has been in the garage almost the entire time.

No rain, no driving, nothing. I noticed some of the flaws when I actually got the car home.

Think what you want, but pictures don’t show everything. You don’t have the car in the possession so you really couldn’t judge how the car came out unless you saw it in person. Also, I never once said I didn’t think the car look significantly better. Because, it does. I’m just not satisfied with it completely.

Like I said, I’m not getting involve with arguing because you guys will twist in shit until the thread gets closed. End of story, I have nothing more to add to this.

Thanks and goodbye,
Alex.
