Hey, a shop is working on my car right now doing a DOHC swap into a 1990 240sx coupe. The mechanic there says that the connecter that goes to the body harness is different. It has 4 pins while the SOHC car only has 3. I just wanted to know what this 4th pin is for.
He also said that there is no connection on the SOHC car for one of the connecters. Does anyone know if any of the wiring has to be changed around and what needs to be done? I am using a 1991 wiring harness and ECU and the car is a 1990 240sx coupe base model. Thanks.
The only plug you need to swap is the dash to EFI harness plug. They’re backwards from 89-90 to 91-94. Just cut off the plug (brown) from the DOHC harness and solder on the one (white) from your SOHC harness. There’s more than 4 pins. Everything else should plug right in.
Oh okay, but what do you means they’re backwards? Do you mean the wires are backwards or something? And when I solder the 1990 plug, do I just match the wire colour up? Thanks for the help!
By backwards I mean that the plug wire positions are inverted and the clip and sections don’t match up. If you wanted to be meticulous, you could repin the plug (I think it fits if it’s flipped, not sure) and match up the wires. I think it’s easier to just cut and resolder.
But the wire colours match up. You only need to hook up 5 wires and the ground, the rest are for Nissan Consult check ports.
