Congrats - the big question I have - how much to replicate if I have stock heads sitting in my garage?
How much are you willing to spend, for what goals of the heads?
Nothing huge, which is the issue. College fund (x2) + house > me right now. Original goal was 400 wheel, but don’t know if it’s doable with just a cam.
A street sweeper cam should get you right near there or just above with supporting boltons.
Still would wind up replacing the valve springs - so the debate is if I should have the heads done while I’m at it. And aside from splurging for used 243 heads, I was curious as to what could be done to the 241’s “for cheap”.
And yea, cheap <> fast, but hey, having teenage kids ain’t cheap, either. And in any case, I was still looking to keep this thing “daily-drivable”, too & not go with a huge cam.
Well I sold that set for $875, And I wouldn’t do that work again for under $1,500 to make it worth my time.
Which makes me wonder if at that level, it’d be more worth it to go with 243 heads instead. Thanks anyhow… still might do a cam & tune anyway.
